Obituary
Unexpectedly and peacefully at Parkwood Veterans Hospital, in her 93rd year. We're pretty sure Mum's departure meant that, after spending much of her life dashing to catch the last outbound train (and sometimes missing it), she made sure she'd be ready when the time came to leave on her latest adventure: her ticket was stamped May 8th. Left to wave farewell from the platform were surviving sons Chip (Dawn Lynn) and Richard (Marie) and daughter Mary (and Andy) and awaiting at the next station was much-loved son Cuyler (1948-2002). Mum also took leave of grandchildren Anna (Matt), Sian (Shane), Jesse (Sonia), Dan (Jackie), Sarah (Mark),Gavin (Natalie), Lauren (Jeff), Uschi and Dash; and great-grandchildren Sydney, River, Grayson, Kyle, Cuyler, Kali, Julia, Layla, Mae, Evelyn and Veronica. Her long working life included gigs as varied as elevator operator, fashion design student, fortune teller, bartender, newspaper columnist, cattle-drive rider; along with a couple of longer stints (full-time mother for 17 years and registered nurse's aide for 25 more years). She also had a life-long love affair with horses that spanned ten decades and she rode well into her 80's. She will be missed by kith and kin who hail from the west, central Canada, and the Maritimes and in whom she took great pride and loved dearly. A midsummer get-together is planned to give her far-flung family an opportunity to remember, reminisce, reconnect and share an anecdote or two. We would like to thank the exceptional team in the Western Counties Wing at Parkwood for their care, their support, and their patience. Fare thee well, Mum... ever onward.
