STRANG, PHILIP WAYNE The passing of Philip Wayne Strang of Burtts Corner, NB, husband of Janis Brewer, occurred on Thursday, May 14, 2009 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born on June 15, 1944 in Port Clyde, NS, he was the son of the late Kenneth and Gladys Strang. He served in the Canadian Forces for nearly 28 years as a member of the RCEME, both here and abroad. He retired as Master Corporal from Canadian Forces in September 1992 and following that he worked as a commissionaire at CFB Gagetown until 2002. Since retirement, he filled his time by fulfilling his passion of helping others. Philip was a "grandfather" to many in the Keswick Valley area, volunteering for a time at the Keswick Valley School and at youth groups at the church. He was a member of the Burtt's Corner Baptist Church, Local Service District and PSSC. He enjoyed singing in the choir and being involved in the Sound Ministry. He was also a leader for the Team Kid Program. Philip was a member of the Keswick Valley Volunteer Fire Department where he was the Equipment Truck Operator. He also enjoyed camping and woodworking. In addition to his wife, Janis and her sons, Colin (Jennifer) and Darrell (Monica) and their children, Philip is survived by his daughter, Gladys Theriault (Simon) and their daughter, Melissa of Calgary, AB; sister, Karen (Craig) of Dartmouth, NS; brothers, Franklyn (Marjorie) of Port Clyde, NS, Bruce (Linda) of Shelburne, NS, Terry of Port Clyde, NS and Richard (Helen) of Sidney Mines, NS; aunt Ina of Chester, NS and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Philip was predeceased by his first wife, Lillian and infant granddaughter, Melanie. Visitation will take place at Burtts Corner Baptist Church on Saturday, May 16, 2009 from 7-9 pm. A Funeral Service will take place from the church on Sunday, May 17, 2009 at 2 pm with Pastor David Wellwood officiating and Pastor Greg Sparkes assisting. Pallbearers for the service will be members of the Keswick Valley Volunteer Fire Department that he served on. Interment will take place in Geary French Lake Waterville Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, remembrances to the Burtts Corner Baptist Church or the charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated by the family.
