Obituary
GORVEATT (nee Morrison), Katherine Hannah - 91, passed away after four months of loving care in Wolfville Nursing Home, Annapolis Valley. Born in West Bay/Dundee, Cape Breton, on April 20, 1913, "K" was the daughter of Robert and Bella (Hill) Morrison. She was predeceased by husband, Ralph; son, Glenn; and brother Robert. A graduate nurse from the Nova Scotia Hospital, Grace Maternity, and Victoria General Hospital, she began her career at the Pugwash County Home. After raising her family, she continued nursing as the Nursery Nurse, in Highland View Hospital, Amherst. Living in Amherst most of her adult life, "K" moved to Port Williams in 1998, to be with son Dale, and his wife Kay Bolivar. Her older son, Glane, and his wife, Kathy Oakley, live in Prospect. "K" was a minimalist, cherishing friendships over finery and natural treasures over temporal wealth. She adored ponds, pebbles, honeybees, humming birds, sunsets and starscapes. Her friend and caregiver, Kay Bolivar, wondered at her soulful serenity. There will be no visitation by request. Her remains have been cremated. A graveside service in Amherst Cemetery will be held Friday, August 27, at 3 p.m. Arrangements entrusted to Furlong's Funeral Home, Amherst. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Wolfville Nursing Home, Victorian Order of Nurses or a charity of choice
