Florence L. Wheaton passed away peacefully at her home in Upper Point de Bute on Sunday, April 8, 2001.
Born in Middle Sackville, she was the daughter of the Late James & Annie (Morton) Anderson. She was married to Wilfred Wheaton in 1938, had three children and they moved to a farm in Point de Bute in 1952.Florence was predeceased by her husband in 1992 and by two brothers, Josiah and Donald Anderson.
She is survived by one brother, Charles (Glenara) Anderson of Middle Sackville, her daughter Bertha Douglas of Point de Bute (Robert, Mahone Bay, NS) and sons James (Shirley) Wheaton of Point de Bute and Roland (Louise) of Calgary. Florence played a loving part in the lives of her grandchildren, Roberta Douglas, Rosemary MacEachen, Margaret Anne Wheaton, Michael Wheaton and Philip Wheaton. Also, her great grandchildren, Megan Sears, Stacy, Daniel and Chelsey Wheaton were fortunate to be an important part of her life.
Throughout her life, Florence played an active role in church activities. She was church organist at the United Baptist Churches in Middle Sackville, Upper Point de Bute and Midgic. She will be remembered for her musical contributions at many weddings, funerals and community events.
Florence and Wilfred enjoyed retirement winters in Florida for several years. She had a great interest in her extended family and in completing the Anderson family history that her mother had started. Her marshland home fascinated her and she enjoyed painting and photographing scenes and activities there. She will be missed.
The remains are resting at the Jones Funeral Home, 70 Bridge St., Sackville (506-364-1300) with visiting hours Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM. The funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, April 10, 2001 at 2 PM, Rev. Allan Griffin officiating. Burial in the Four Corners Cemetery in the spring.
