McCARTHY, Etta Christena - 99, Angevine Lake, Cumberland Co., formerly of Pugwash and Port Phillip, passed away on June 7, 2000, at home. Born in Mount Pleasant, she was a daughter of the late Thomas and Dora (McCormick) Dickie. She was a member of the Calvary United Church, Port Howe and a life member of the Calvary United Church UCW. She was a charter member and past matron of the Order of the Eastern Star, Sunrise Chapter 50, Pugwash. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Surviving are daughter, Muriel Chapman and husband Harry, Amherst Head; son, Fred McCarthy and companion Pauline Finley, Shinimicas; grandchildren, Brian, Faye, Isabel, Gerald, Roy, Dana and Carolyn; great-grandchildren, Lindsay, Barbie, Thomas, Erin, Ashlea, Brian, Blair, Alida, Jonathan, Christena, Joanna, Jennifer, Kelly, Bonita, Becky and David; great great-granddaughter, Taylor; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph; daughter, Evelyn Mundle; sisters, Amy Fraser, Annie King, Janet Fahey, Mary MacKay, Clara and Bessie in infancy; brothers, Owen, Minar, George and Harris. Visitation will be 2-4, 6:30-9 p.m. on Friday in Mundle's Funeral Home, Pugwash, where an Eastern Star Tribute service will be held at 6:30 p.m. Friday. Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Saturday in Calvary United Church, Port Howe, Rev. Janet Travers officiating. Interment will be in Rockley Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Calvary United Church or a charity of choice. A reception will be held in Calvary United Church following the interment.
