Halifax Herald - December 30, 2002 - Ritchie, Elizabeth Christine "Chrissie" - 87, Glen Haven Manor, New Glasgow, formerly of Grant Street, New Glasgow, passed away Saturday, December 28 2002, in the manor. Born in Barney's River Station, August 3 1915, she was a daughter of the late Harlan Page and Margaret Grace (Bannerman) Robertson. She was a resident of New Glasgow most of her life. A dedicated member of St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, Chrissie was a CGIT leader and was very active in the ladies guild and the Allan Pollock Society for 30 years. Hard working, highly efficient and intelligent, she was a valued employee of George E. Flemings Furniture Store, New Glasgow. Chrissie was an avid golfer, curler and bowler. A beloved wife, sister, aunt and friend, she nurtured them with constant love and care. She will be remembered for her generosity, proficiency, quick wit and her selfless love of others. Surviving are sisters, Janet Robertson, New Glasgow; Lena (Wendell) Watters, Hamilton, Ontario; brother Allison (Helen) Robertson, MacLellan's Brook; sisters-in-law, Mary Robertson, New Glasgow; Dorothy Robertson and Gladys Robertson, Barney's River Station; Joyce Robertson, Mississauga, Ontario; Eileen Robertson, Burlington, Ontario; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Donald Murray Ritchie; sister, Emma; brothers, Lawrence, Lester, Everett, Donald, Freddie. Cremation has taken place. The family will receive friends from 7 - 9 pm today in H.W. Angus Funeral Home, New Glasgow. A memorial service will be held at 2 pm Tuesday, December 31, in St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, New Glasgow, Rev. Richard Sand officiating. A reception will take place in the church hall. Interment will be in Kenzieville Cemetery. Family flowers only. Donations in Chrissie's memory may be made to any charity.
