CPL CHARLES GORDON STRANG: Cpl Charles Gordon Strang 30, son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Strang, died at his home in South Brewer, March 15. Besides his parents, he is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Ruby McQuarrie of Hampden and Mrs. Shirley Duncan of Brewer; six brothers, Seaman 2/c Nelson of the Seabees, in Pearl Harbor, W. Stewart in Alaska, Richard M. of South Brewer, S/Sgt Wilbur H. at Camp Edwards, Pvt Ross G. at Camp Gordon, Ga., and Tex C. of Brewer; several aunts and uncles. Cpl Strang left Bangor with Battery B. of the National Guard for Camp Blanding, Fla., just four years ago on March 15. He was 14 months overseas, landing at Guadalcanal, going from there to the Georgia Island and was in the Battle of Munda. From there he went to the Russell Islands where he was injured in an accident. Returning to the States, he spent the past year at Walter Reed Hospital and last November received his medical discharge. He came home a short time ago. Military services will be held at the Second Congregational Church in South Brewer Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock.
