Obituary
MacLEAN, Eugene "Hughie" - 73, Sutherland's River, died Tuesday, May 16, 2000, in the Victoria General Hospital, Halifax, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in New Glasgow, he was a son of the late James and Monica (Fitzpatrick) MacLean. He was a school bus driver for 28 years and had worked in several saw mills in the area. He was an avid card player and always enjoyed old time music. He was a member of Saint Andrew's Roman Catholic Church, Egerton. He is survived by his wife, the former Christine Dewar; sons, Kevin, Sutherland's River; Keith (Brenda), Park Falls; daughters, Karen (John) Chisholm, Sutherland's River; Marilyn (Derrick) Sandluck, MacPherson's Mills; grandchildren, Megan, Mallory, Abby MacLean, Tyler, Brittany Chisholm, Caitlyn, Breanna Sandluck; brother, Leo, St. Joseph's; sisters, Marie (Roddie) MacDougall, Antigonish; Louise (Jim) Boyle, Truro; Jean MacLean, New Glasgow. He was predeceased by his brothers, John, Jamsie; sisters, Evelyn Murphy, Florence Davies, Marguerite Cunningham and Isabel Rockey. His remains will rest in H.W. Angus Funeral Home, New Glasgow with visitation 2-4, 7-9 p.m. today. Funeral mass will be held at 2 p.m. Friday in St. Andrew's Roman Catholic Church, Egerton, Rev. Robert Day officiating. Burial will be in St. Andrew's Cemetery. Donations in his memory may be made to the charity of one's choice.
