Betty Roberts
March 11th, 1943 - May 4th, 2009
Betty Jean Roberts age 66 of Amherst passed away on Monday, May 4, 2009 at the All Saints Hospital in Springhill, NS. Born in Joggins, NS she was a daughter of the late Gordon and Gertrude (Hickey) Cooke. Betty worked for many years for Oxford Frozen Foods until her retirement in April 2006. She was an associate member of the Royal Canadian Legion Br. #10, Amherst where she loved to dance and was a huge country and western fan. Betty will be sadly missed by her many friends and especially her best friend Doreen Higgins of Amherst. She was a member of the Mother's Of Angels Society. Betty is survived by sons Michael and Dale (Cindy) both of Amherst and Larry(Cindy) of Joggins, daughter Crystal (Donnie) Stiles of Amherst, grandchildren Amy (Roberts) Chapman, Melissa and Jessica Roberts all of Amherst, Ashley Roberts of Moncton, NB, Hayley and Kyle Roberts of Sambro, NS, Nick Roberts of Joggins and Kristen and Tyler Roberts of New Waterford, NS, two great grandsons Dakota Kimble and Ashton Brimsacle of Moncton, step grandchildren Jeremy Stiles of Grand Prairie, Alberta and Shannon Stiles and Charles Murray both of Amherst, and Nathan MacAleese of Sambro, NS, step great granddaughter Aurora Stiles-Cazon of Amherst, brothers Lawson (Marion) Cooke of River Hebert, Wayne (Shuster) Brown of Strathcona, NS and Laurie Mattatall of Amherst, sisters Judy (Barry) Smith of Scarborough, ON, Linda (Terry) Shimkoff of Toronto, ON, Myrna Chitty-Brown of Kingston, ON, Sally (Craig) White and twin sister Anna Wagner both of Amherst, daughter in law Shirley Tower MacAleese of Sambro and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her former husband and father of her children Edmund J. Roberts Sr., sons James and Terry, brothers Vincent Cooke, Freddie Brown and sister Sandra Ann Brown. Family and friends are invited to a time of visitation on Wednesday, May 6, 2009 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Campbell's Funeral Home, 98 Church St., Amherst (667-9906). Funeral service will be held on Thursday at 2 p.m. in Campbell's Chapel with Pastor Jonathan Cole officiating. Interment will take place in the St. Denis Cemetery in Minudie, NS. Family flowers only. Memorial donation in Betty's memory can be made to the Mothers of Angels Society.
