      Alton "Paddy" Bernard Arseneau

      Alton (Paddy) Bernard Arseneau age 73, of Amherst passed away Thursday, February 10, 2005 at Cumberland Regional Health Care Center, Upper Nappan, N.S. Born in Amherst, he was a son of the late John and Janie (Coster) Arseneau. At the age of 13 he worked at the Salt Plant in Nappan carrying water to the workers. He later worked in the lumber camps at the age of 14 where he was a truck driver and then worked for the railroad in the Folly Mountain area. When Paddy was 17 he started working for Enemal Heating in Amherst where he was employed for 25 years. He also worked for the Town Recreation Department working in the town parks, mowing the lawns and gardening. At the age of 65, Paddy retired from the foundry division of IMP. He had a passion for gardening, he loved hockey and had a very creative mind. Paddy is survived by his wife the former Joyce McCarthy, three daughters Sylvia (David) Thompson of Amherst, Patricia Arseneau (David) and Tracy (John) Tribe both of Brantford, Ont., two sons Kenny (Tammy) and Elton (Denise) both of Amherst, one brother Donald (Olive) of Amherst, grandchildren Kelly, Dawn, Cynthia, Bethany, Christopher, Julie, Jennifer, Lisa, Illyria, Kyle, Ashley, Owen and Noah, great grandchildren Riley, Branden, Colby, Lanya and Hayden and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two sisters Pauline Kelley and Catherine Noiles and one brother Walter. His remains are resting at Campbell's Funeral Home, 98 Church St., Amherst with visiting on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will be held on Monday at 2 p.m. from Campbell's Chapel with Rev. Byron Corkum officiating. Interment will take place in the spring in the Amherst Cemetery. Donations in his memory may be made to the Palliative Care Unit of Cumberland Regional Health Care Center, VON or the charity of your choice. www.campbellsfh.com
