Obituary
Joyce Annetta Bobbitt HALIFAX, NS - Joyce Annetta Bobbitt, 65, Halifax, passed away Saturday April 13, 2002 in the VG Site, QEII. Born August 10, 1936, in Sackville, NB, she was the eldest daughter of the late Gerald and Kathleen (George) Ayer. She graduated from Sackville High School in 1954 and was chosen as Class Valedictorian. She pursued a career with Maritime Life Assurance Co. which took her from a clerical position to middle management and Corporate Secretary prior to her early retirement in 1984 for health reasons. After retirement, she did some volunteer work with the Canadian Red Cross Society, Canadian Diabetes Association and the Halifax Stroke Club as well as enjoying bowling and golf. She is survived by her sisters, Margaret MacPhee, St. Stephen, NB, Dorothy (Rodney) Smith, Sackville, NB; brother, George Ayer, Sackville; stepmother, Gertrude Ayer, Sackville; stepsister, Debbie (Peter) Estabrooks, Midgic, NB; as well as many nieces and nephews. At the request of the deceased, cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation. A celebration of Joyce's life will be held at 1 pm, Tuesday, April 16, 2002, in Atlantic Funeral Home, 6552 Bayers Road, Halifax, Pastor Brent Carter officiating. Interment in Oakridge Memory Gardens, 1078 Old Sackville Road, Lower Sackville. Family flowers only. In lieu, a donation to Dalhousie Medical Research Foundation, Sir Charles Tupper Medical Building, Halifax, NS B3H 4H7 or a charity of choice would be appreciated.
