Obituary
OULTON, ROBERT ALLISON - Moncton, NB - Al was always what he was called and he was a man of considerable accomplishments for his family, his involvement in out community and his most excellent years as an employee at ATV-CTV, in his final job with CTV, he was director of Engineering for Atlantic Canada. June 15, 1933 was a great day in Amherst for Tora and Robert Oulton, the proud parents of their first child. November 4, 2014 was indeed a sad day for his family and friends when Al passed away at the Moncton City Hospital. Al is survived by his wife Judith Jacobson and her three children Ryan, Richard and Jennifer; Al's dearest legacy, his children and their spouses, Richard and Delia, Bill and Virginia, Dale and Steve, Gina and Donald, and Collin and Sylvia. Most dear to him were his grandchildren Wanda, Chantal, and Melissa, and Thomas, Haley and Judith's children who loved Al and had a great relationship with them, the step-grandchildren Sam, Emma and Louis. Most outstanding was Al's desire to attain an Electrical Engineering Degree, he of course was a husband to Betty, father to his five children and working at a most demanding job. His late wife would help him, quizzie him etc, and lo and behold, Al attained his degree with Honours. Al's family were always first and then his job in the TV industry, which he loved was the first one there in the mornings. To make a revealing fact, that Al as Director of CTV Atlantic could take a six week holiday and hot have a worry about any problems at CTV and there were none! Remember "Christmas Daddies" that CKCW every November, Al was Chairman and more importantly the organizer with other employees at CKCW, their mass of toys and financial gifts went to the Salvation Army, who loved after this distribution of the gifts Moncton citizens gave to "Christmas Daddies". Al, also enjoyed his time working on the weekly Bingo that Kiwanis Club put on. The funds from these fun evenings provided many things for our city - my favourite was the 1967 (our 100th birthday) gift to Centennial Park. Al, also belonged to the Press Club and Probus. His time spent in the Moncton Art Society as a member and seven years as its president gave great vitality to the Art Society and produced many gallery showings for the members. He loved everything about art and had an outstanding member, accomplished artist, his late wife Betty. Al was a man of many talents, and also a private business man on two occasions, first Alton Electricity. If you don't know the electrical engineer who did the winning specs for both George Dumont Hospital and the Everett Chalmers Hospital -it was indeed Al! His last business was Alron Imaging which he began after his retirement from CTV. A very sophisticated process, with the use of an Iris Printer, he was the first business of this process extremely difficult in North America. Freeman Patterson upon seeing the process never had his work done anywhere else. Yes, a man for all seasons and yes, Renaissance man. And we must be reminded of his siblings, brothers Keith (deceased), Don and Winston, and his beloved baby sister Joan.
Funeral service will be held at Ferguson Funeral Home, 1657 Mountain Road, Moncton (858-1995) on Sunday, November 9, 2014 at 1:30pm. Obituary
OULTON, Golden "Keith" - 68, Halifax, formerly of Hacketts Cove, passed away Saturday, April 12, 2003, in the VG Site, QEII. Born in Bay Verte, N.B., he was a son of the late Robert and Tora (Trenholm) Oulton. Keith graduated from Mount Allison University with a bachelor of commerce degree. His first job and love of sweets began at Moirs as a cost accountant. He then went on to work in Ottawa for the federal government, returning to Halifax with HRDC, where he remained until his retirement in 1994. His hobbies and interests knew no bounds having patiently built a 36 foot sailboat from bow to stern with his own hands. From building stonewalls or clearing the lot for a home in Hacketts Cove to something as fine as carving a bird from a single piece of wood, Keith pursued each interest with equal commitment and enthusiasm. He was an avid golfer, sailor, potter, painter, carpenter and traveler. He was also an avid student whom you could count on having several books on any sport, repair, hobby or interest and was also a willing teacher eager to share his wealth of knowledge with anyone who would listen. He loved to play the mandolin and the sight of his grandchildren dancing to his music would light up his eyes. Saturdays would always find Keith at the Brewery Market and he made many friends there. He valued their conversation and company. Keith was an elder in the United Church, taught Sunday school and was an active member of his community, who was not afraid to voice his opinion. He will be sadly missed but never forgotten by all who knew him. He is survived by his wife, the former Beverly J. Campbell; son, Timothy (Gloria), Tantallon; daughters, Terri (Wayne) Wetendorf, Georgia; Susan (Thomas) Laing, Halifax; brothers, Alison (Judith), Moncton; Donald (Patricia) and Winston, both of Florida; Gary, Toronto; sister, Joan (Dan) Stewart, Florida; grandchildren, Julie, Madison and Sam. Obituary
Donna Gail Miller SEABRIGHT / AYLESFORD LAKE - It is with extreme shock and sadness that the family of Donna Gail Miller, 64, of Seabright, Halifax County announce her sudden death on Monday, January 22, 2007 in the QEII Health Sciences Centre, Halifax. Born in Amherst, Donna claims to have had many lives-but what she really meant by that, was her many careers. Several of these careers included sales; both on the road and real estate in Richmond Hill, Ontario and home in Amherst. She was the owner of a successful women's clothing store, La Cr%C3%A8me Boutique in Amherst and later Halifax. With all those careers, Donna's real love was renovating old houses, including her last major project, the renovation of the John Douglas House Bed and Breakfast in Glen Margaret. It was also home to her other love, her craft shop. After turning the lower level into a shop to fill full of her sewing projects, her daughter Christine saw the old house and moved in, antiques and all to run the bed and breakfast. With her new puppy Dusty, Donna planned to fill her shop with her crafting friends and their projects and take her turn running the Picket Fence Crafters shop so she had time to continue playing bridge with the Waverly Bridge Club. She also enjoyed her Thursday Morning Tantallon Craft Group. She also looked forward to spending time at the family cottage at Aylesford Lake, another labour of love renovation project. Politically active, Donna helped get out the vote for many candidates over the years, both federally and provincially. She is a past Commissioner and Chair of the Amherst Business Improvement District Commission, and was active at various points in her busy life with the I.O.D.E., Zonta, and various craft groups. Donna was the daughter of the late Layton and Fern (Trenholm) Cameron. She is survived by her husband, Douglas "Doug"; a daughter, Christine Bales, Glen Margaret, Halifax County; a son, Cameron (Sandra) and cherished granddaughter, Cassiopia, Ottawa; two step-sons, Keith Miller (Arlene Girardin), Bedford and Brent Miller, Moncton; her mother-in-law, Mrs. Leola Miller, Windsor, formerly of Kentville; two brothers, Gordon (Mary Lynn), Amherst and Yarmouth; Gregory (Donna), Amherst; nieces and nephews. Cremation has taken place under the direction of the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville. Visitation will be held from 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, January 24, 2007 in the Bay Road Baptist Church, Exit 4, Timberlea, where the funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, January 25, 2007, Rev. Alex Rockwell officiating. The scattering of her cremated remains will take place at Aylesford Lake, Kings County at a later date. Donations in memory may be made to the Canadian Diabetic Association and the Canadian Cancer Society or the charity of your choice.
