    Age 63, of Falmouth, passed away peacefully on September 22, 2014 at Halifax Infirmary, QEII, Halifax. Born in Moncton, New Brunswick, on November 15, 1950, Shari was the eldest daughter of the late Harold and Joyce Nelson.Shari worked as a receptionist and assistant in a variety of positions within the medical profession as well as a Licensed Practical Nurse in the Halifax area. She is survived by her husband, Bruce Atwell, Falmouth; daughters, Stacey Atwell (Robert Bearisto), Dartmouth; and Amy Atwell, Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates; and granddaughter, Ava Bearisto, Dartmouth. Also surviving are brothers, Scott (Ann) Nelson, Calgary, Alberta; Ken (Clara Michelin) Nelson, Labrador; and sisters, Kim Nelson, Windsor, Ontario; Heather Nelson, Halifax; Nancy Nelson (Tony Colaiacovo), Halifax; and Jennifer Nelson (Andrew Allen), Toronto, Ontario; as well as many nephews and nieces. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by nieces, Rachael Nelson and Emily Patterson.Shari always welcomed others with open arms, a warm smile and a loving home. She enjoyed reading, cooking and gardening and will be remembered by many as a loving wife, devoted mother and extremely proud grandmother.The family wishes to extend special thanks to the medical and nursing staff of both Hants Community Hospital and Halifax Infirmary 8.1, QEII.Arrangements have been entrusted to DeMont Family Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 419 Albert St., PO Box 981, Windsor, NS B0N 2T0 (902-798-8317), where visitation will be held Thursday, September 25 from 6-8 p.m. Funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Friday, September 26 in DeMont Family Funeral Home Chapel, Rev. Gary Manthorne officiating. Private family burial will be held in Maplewood Cemetery, Windsor. A reception will follow in the funeral home’s Elmcroft Reception Centre. Donations in memory of Shari may be made to Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia (1-800-423-4432); The Arthritis Society (1-800-321-1433) or Autism Nova Scotia (1-877-544-4495).
