Obituary
HOMPSON, Sidney Percy - 86, Trillium Ridge Lodge, Kingston, Ont., formerly of Sydney and Oxford, Cumberland Co., died June 24, 1998, in Kingston General Hospital. Â Born in Oxford, he was a son of the late Loran B. and Mildred I. (Anderson) Thompson. Â He was an adherent of Trinity United Church, Oxford. Â As a young man, he operated the White Lantern Restaurant in Oxford for a number of years. Â Following that he operated Sid's Taxi Service in Oxford for a number of years. Â After moving to Sydney he was self-employed as a salesperson, having sold Watkins products as well as being a salesperson for other companies. Â He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Â Surviving are nieces, Gene (Mrs. George Delaney), Oxford; Mrs. Christine Carroll, Florence, Cape Breton Co.; nephew, Ronald Carroll, Kingston, Ont.; a number of great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by sisters, Mrs. Emma (Carroll) MacRae, Mrs. Ruby Hudak; brother, Carman. Â Cremation has taken place. Â Memorial service was held in Trillium Ridge Lodge, July 2 in Kingston. Â Graveside committal service 2 p.m. August 13 in Oxford Pine Grove Cemetery, Rev. Lorraine Lambert officiating. Â Donations to any charity. Â Arrangements entrusted to Allen's Funeral Home, Oxford.
