    BLACK, Lois Rita - 78, Amherst, died July 15, 2007, in the Halifax Infirmary, QEII. She was a daughter of the late Herbert and Mary (Patterson) White. Surviving are daughters, Gail Gouchie, Brenda Manthorne, Vicki Logan; sons, Rev. Roderick, Paul; stepsons, Victor and Jack Black; 14 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; sisters, Rita Linney, Ivy Legere, Shirley Sampson, Debby Stewart; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Victor; brothers, Jack and Donald White. Visitation 2-4, 7-9 p.m. today in Campbell's Funeral Home, 98 Church St., Amherst. Funeral 2 p.m. Wednesday in Christ Church, Amherst. www.campbells-amherst.ca

    SAMPSON, Shirley Anne (nee - White) - Passed away peacefully in her twin sister’s arms surrounded by her family on Monday April 3rd, 2017 in her 81st year. She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Louis Sampson. She was predeceased by her brothers; Joe (Jack) White, Donnie White and sister Lois Black. Shirley leaves behind her beloved twin Ivy, sisters Rita Linney and Debbie Stewart. Her children; Nancy Bowman (Frank), Cindy Sampson, Susan Sampson, Dale Sampson and Cory Sampson (Lisa). She was much loved by her grandchildren; Amy Patenaude (Andrew), Jordan Patterson, Michael Kellar, Geoffrey Birkenshaw, Laura Kellar, Hilary Wallace (Brandon), Caroline Birkenshaw, Alecia Bart, Jordan Ann Sampson, Madeline Sampson. Great grandchildren; Alexis Patenaude and Jack Patenaude. She was a member of the Trillium Club and College Hill Church Women’s group. Much gratitude to Anna and Community Care Access Centre for their care, compassion, and responsiveness to her needs in her final days. In keeping with Shirley's wishes a Celebration of her Life will be held at a later date. Memorial donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family.
