    Elizabeth M. Thrower
    ORANGE - Elizabeth Mae Thrower, 81, of 25 Rosemont Ave., died Friday, Nov. 19, 2004 at Athol Memorial Hospital.
    She was born in Athol, Nov. 23, 1922, a daughter of Spencer G. and Lottie (Newton) Thrower Sr. She had lived in Athol most of her life and since 1994 has resided in Orange with her sister Ann Carley. She graduated from Athol High School in 1940.
    She worked for the former New England Telephone as a switchboard operator for 33 1&Mac218;2 years in the Athol and Gardner offices until retiring in 1975 and was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America for many years. She was a member of the Athol Congregational Church for 70 years, sang in the church choir for 65 years, served on the Board of Trustees and on the Flower and Altar committee for many years.
    Elizabeth was a member of the Order of Eastern Star former Themis Chapter #30 in Athol, serving as Past Matron, and a member of the Cradle Rock Chapter 125 in Barre. She served as Past Deputy Grand Matron and Grand Representative to Vermont until 2002 and to the Yukon and British Columbia.
    She was an honorary member of Puritan Charity Themis Atlantic Chapter 29 in Milford, N.H., and was a member of Galilean Shrine Order of the White Shrine of Jerusalem.
    She enjoyed traveling during her retirement and loved spending time with family and her cats.
    She leaves two sisters; Ann Carley and Margaret L. Wikel, both of Orange; three nieces; one nephew and many grand nieces and nephews. Two brothers; Spencer and Harold Thrower predeceased her.
    A celebration of her life on her 82nd birthday will be held Tuesday, Nov. 23, at 10 a.m. at Higgins - O'Connor Funeral Home, 146 Main St., Athol, with the Rev. Harold V. Lloyd Jr., pastor of Athol Congregational Church officiating.
    Burial will follow in Silver Lake Cemetery and calling hours will be Monday, Nov. 22, from 6 to 8 p.m. with the Order of Eastern Star conducting a service at 7 p.m.
    In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials to the Athol Congregational Church, Book of Memory or Stained Glass Window Fund, 1225 Chestnut St., Athol, Mass. 01331 or the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen Street, Framingham, Mass. 01701
