MILLS, KATHLEEN S. - JOGGINS NS - It is with sadness that the family of Kathleen S. Mills announces her passing at South Cumberland Community Care Centre in Parrsboro, NS on May 17, 2008, where she had been residing since August of 2006. Daughter of the late Patrick and Daisy (Belliveau) Terrio, Kathleen was born on August 30th, 1915 in Joggins where she lived for 90 years. She was married for nearly 62 years to the late Arthur J. Most of her life was spent at home raising her children with the exception of a period of ten years when she worked at the local grocery store after her children left home. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all her family. She was a devoted Catholic, and said her rosary everyday and was very upset if on occasion she would forget. Kathleen is survived by two sons, Bill (Alma), Joggins, NS, Gerard, Saint John, NB; two daughters, Yvonne Belliveau (Reg), Saint John, NB, Jeanette McKinnon (Gilbert), Quispamsis, NB. She is also survived by 16 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Fred (Myrtle) Terrio, Joggins; several in-laws; many nieces, nephews and cousins. Dad to Mom
I’m gone now, but still very near.
Death can never separate us.
Each time you feel a gentle breeze,
It’s my hand caressing your face.
Each time the wind blows,
It carries my voice whispering your name.
When the wind blows your hair ever so slightly,
Think of me pushing a few stray hairs back in place.
When you feel a few raindrops fall on your face,
It’s me placing soft kisses.
At night look up at the sky and see,
The stars shining so brightly.
I’m one of these stars and I’m winking at you and
Smiling with delight.
For never forget,
I will always love you (you’re the apple of my eye).

Anna Marguerite Hookey
1938- 2021
Anna Marguerite Hookey, passed peacefully holding the hand of her beloved husband at Beach Grove Nursing Home on Saturday, August 28, 2021, at the age of 83.
Born in Barronsfield, NS. She was the daughter of the late James Terrio and Grace Terrio (nee: Baker).
The most important things in her life were her family and the relationships she had built over the years with friends and colleagues. Anna has always lived her life with gratitude, empathy for people and shown kindness to everyone she has encountered throughout her life. With the love of her life, Leonard, she formed many close friendships through the Belvedere Golf Club, as a member and active volunteer (Ladies President), her volunteer work with Kinettes and Girl Guides, Minor Hockey games and tournaments and numerous social Bridge nights. Her career as a secretary started at DC Casey’s in Amherst, NS, then the US Air Force Base in Stephenville, NF, Canada Packers in Charlottetown then the majority of her career at The Atlantic Police Academy as an Executive Assistant.
Anna loved the sun. Winter months in Florida with Len, walking Daytona Beach, golfing, socializing with their friends, and visits from her family gave her great joy.
She considered family, her greatest blessings. Growing up with four brothers made for a lively home, and much joy for Anna. Then she opened her arms and heart to 4 sisters in laws, their children and grandchildren. From loving and guiding her 3 children to babysitting, playing and adoring her 8 grandchildren, her life was full. Anna(Nanny) was known for her famous back rubs. The grandchildren and even some nephews, some of them too grown up to admit, cuddled up next to Nanny for a back rub.
She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Leonard Hookey; sons Michael Hookey (Kelly), Steven Hookey (Penny) and daughter Margot Toner (Ivan). Her grandchildren: Taylor Hookey, Jordan Hookey, Joshua Hookey, Melanie Toner, Adam Toner, Anna Hookey, Meghan Hookey and Jack Hookey. Her brothers: Jim Terrio (Sherma), Ralph Terrio, and Richard Terrio (Lynn). Her sister-in-law: Marion Noseworthy, and many nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she is predeceased by her brother Danny Terrio, his wife Carol; her brother-in-law Walt Noseworthy and sister-in-law Pierette Terrio.
The family wish to thank the staff at Beach Grove Nursing Home for the love and care given to Anna.
Resting at Hillsboro Funeral Home, Stratford. Due to current restrictions a private visitation and funeral service will be held.
