OULTON, George Robert "Bob" - 89, Parkland Estates, Truro. It is with great sadness that the family of Bob Oulton announce his passing on July 2, 2009, in Colchester Regional Hospital, Truro. Born in Halifax on April 10, 1920, he was a son of the late Charles and Ethel (Stonehouse) Oulton. Bob's early years were spent in both Halifax and Springhill. Upon completion of high school, he worked for a short period of time in Springhill until he enlisted in the Navy in 1940. His primary posting was at the Naval Yards in Montreal where he met his wife, Edith and they married in 1944 and would have celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary this September. At the end of the war, Bob returned to the Maritimes with Edie, and they moved to Truro in 1946 after Bob accepted a job with Kellogg Company of Canada as a commercial salesman. Bob was a valued employee for over 34 years and was well-known throughout Truro, Northern/Western Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island as a friendly fellow who always had a joke and a kind word for others. After retirement in 1980, Bob and Edie enjoyed many winters in Florida. He was a member of the Truro Commercial Travelers Association, Board of Stewards, member of the Happy Gang and an elder of First United Church and a charter member of the Golden K, Truro. Bob is survived by his loving wife, Edie (Adams); son, Kenneth (Paulina), Rothesay, N.B.; daughter, Lynn Kinsella (Peter), Rothesay; stepgranddaughter, Terri Welsh (Jayson), Comox, B.C.; sister, Joan Parker, Barrie, Ont.; nephew, Rob Parker, Toronto; sister-in-law, Avanwy Adams, Florida; nephew, Jim Adams, North Carolina; nieces, Elizabeth Calam, Regina, Sask.; Bronwen Robinson, Leeds, England; Mary Morris, Bedford, England. He was predeceased by brother-in-law, Allan Adams. Visitation will take place on Sunday, July 5 from 2-4 p.m. with memorial service on Monday, July 6 at 2 p.m., both in Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow St., Truro with Rev. Sandy MacLean officiating. Reception to follow the service. A private family interment will take place in Watson Cemetery. Family flowers only.
