    Bethene Miller Moore July 19, 1909 ~ October 3, 2004 CARMEL - Bethene Miller Moore, 95, died on October 3rd in her home at Carmel Valley Manor following a brief illness. Born Laura Bethene to Alfred Lewis and Anna Morgan Miller on July 19, 1909 in Kansas City, MO, Mrs. Moore spent her adult life in the Bay Area, where she was President of Dickie Associates Interior Design Firm of Oakland and San Francisco. She was the widow of George Dickie and of Admiral Walter Ellery Moore, Commanding Officer of the battleship Juneau in World War II. Admiral Moore perished in a collision between two jet liners at Tenerife, Canary Islands, in 1977, still considered the worst disaster in aviation history. Mrs. Moore survived the crash, and moved to Del Mesa Carmel the following year. She is survived by her granddaughter, Jan Vanderwerf, and by numerous family members. A Memorial Service will take place on Thursday, Oct. 21 at 2:00 PM at the Carmel Valley Community Chapel in Carmel Valley. In lieu of flowers, friends are asked to make contributions to the SPCA of Monterey County.
