    JACKSON, Alfred Henry - 80, Fenwick, died October 13, 1994, in Highland View Regional Hospital, Amherst.  Born in Lorneville, he was a son of the late George and Ellen (Feltham) Jackson.  He was a farmer and had been employed at EnHeat for over 40 years.  He is survived by his wife, the former Eileen Smith; six daughters, Brenda (Mrs. Reg White), Upper Nappan; Judy (Mrs. Bliss Baker), Brookdale; Jocelyn, Moncton, N.B.; Patricia (Mrs. Garth Gates), Truro; Starr (Mrs. Robin MacLean), Strathcona; Wanda Thorburn, Dartmouth; six sons, Sanford, John, both of Amherst; Mayhue, Grand Cache, Alta.; Carman, Yarmouth; Bruce, Galatia, Ill.; Brian, Fenwick; brother, Johnny, Chapman Settlement; four sisters, Margaret (Mrs. Eugene Haynes), Evelyn (Mrs. Doug Haynes), both of Lorneville; Avery, Leicester; Pearl (Mrs. Isidore Gallant), Amherst; 29 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandsons; many nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by a daughter, Gwenda; two sisters, Viola Locke, Annie Noiles; grandson, George Jackson; a great-granddaughter.  Visitation will be 2-4, 7-9 p.m. Saturday in Campbell's Funeral Home, Amherst, where funeral will be 2 p.m. Sunday, Rev. Harold King officiating.  Following cremation, burial will be in Amherst Head Cemetery.

    Mrs Harry Noiles
    AMHERST - Mrs Harry Noiles, 57, of 36 Winston Avenue, died Friday in Highland View Regional Hospital. Born in Lorneville, she was the former Annie Frances Jackson, daughter of the late George and Nellie (Feltham) Jackson. She was a former employee of National Specialty Ltd, Amherst and assisted her husband with a royal mail route. She was a former member of Lorneville United Church and the UCW, an adherent of Emmanuel United Church, Amherst and was active in the Brownie movement. Surviving are her husband; a daughter Cheryn at home; two sons, Keith, Waltham, Mass; Owen, Dartmouth; five sisters, Viola (Mrs Norman Lock), Brookdale; Mrs Lillian Turner, Amherst; Margaret (Mrs Eugene Haynes), Tidnish; Pearl (Mrs Wilbur Mountain); and Evelyn (Mrs Douglas Haynes), both of Lorneville; three brothers, Alfred, Nappan; Avery, East Leicester; John, Chapman Settlement; eight grandchildren. The body is a Furlong's Funeral Home, Amherst, where funeral will be Monday at 3 pm, Rev Douglas Jennings officiating. Burial will be in Lorneville cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Canadian Cancer Society.

    JACKSON, Avery Weldon - 75, East Leicester, Cumberland Co., died March 15, 1998, in High View Regional Hospital, Amherst.  Born January 18, 1923, in Lorneville, he was a son of the late George W. and Ellen A. (Feltham) Jackson.  As a young man he was employed in the lumbering industry and later was self-employed as a farmer and operated his own sugar woods, making maple products.  Although farming was his main occupation, throughout his lifetime, he also worked as a carpenter in the local area until his retirement.  Surviving are his wife, the former Olive M. Carter; daughters, Faye Kavalak, Springhill; Heather Milner, Salem, Cumberland Co.; Joyce Carscadden, Amherst; Ruth Hudson, East Leicester; Sylvia Baker, Northport, Cumberland Co.; Joan Porteous, Winnipeg, Man.; Donna Jackson, Sackville, N.B.; Lorna Funk, Calgary, Alta.; Eleanor Leadbetter, Edmonton, Alta.; son, Walter, East Leicester; sisters, Mrs. Lillian Turner, Mrs. Pearl Gallant, Amherst; Mrs. Margaret Haynes, Tidnish, Cumberland Co.; Mrs. Evelyn Haynes, Lorneville; brother, John, Chapman Settlement, Cumberland Co.; 32 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren.  He was predeceased by daughter, Shirley; a daughter and son in infancy; sisters, Viola Locke, Annie Noiles; brother, Alfred.  Visitation this afternoon and evening in Allen's Funeral Home, Oxford.  Funeral 1 p.m. Wednesday in Little River United Baptist Church, Rev.     John G Jackson
    1929-2008

    It is with great sadness, that the family of John G. Jackson of Chapman Settlement, announce his sudden passing at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Center on Saturday, Feb., 2, 2008.

    Born in Lorneville, he was a son of the late George and Nellie (Feltham) Jackson.John was a "Jack of All Trades", being a carpenter, fisherman, gardener and hunter. A home body, he enjoyed card games and music, his collection of talking toys, his family, his friends and his cats.

    John will be sadly missed by his wife of 59 years Jeanette (Ackles); 12 children, Norma Gordon, Brian (Belinda) Jackson, Merry Anne (Bill) Chapman, Teri (Rick) Porter, Betty Jackson, Carol Jackson, Grace (Sid) Archer, Holly (Dan) Rector, Pearl Jackson, Laurie (Garry) Payne, Robbie (Connie) Jackson and Jim (Darlene) Jackson; 17 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild; 3 sisters, Margaret (Eugene) Haynes, Evelyn (Douglas) Haynes and Pearl Gallant. He was predeceased by sisters, Annie, Lillian and Viola and by brothers Alfred and Avery.

    The remains are being cremated under the care of the Furlong Jones Funeral Home, Amherst. John's family will receive friends at the Furlong Jones Chapel, 68 Church St., Amherst on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. A memorial service will be held at the Chapel on Tuesday, February 5, 2008 at 2 pm, Rev. Steve Longmoore officiating.

    Evelyn Georgetta Haynes age 78 of Amherst passed away on her birthday, Friday, June 5, 2015 at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Center, Upper Nappan.
    Born in Lorneville, NS, she was the daughter of the late George and Nellie (Feltham) Jackson.
    Mom was a very fun loving lady who loved to play bingo and cards and going on adventures. She belonged to the Sunrise Campers as well as a past member of the Lorneville UCW (Ladies Aid). In mom’s younger years she loved going hunting, fishing and clamming with family and friends.
    She will be deeply missed by her children Georgie (Eric) Helpard, Gary (Margaret), Nancy (Gary) Porter, Harvey (Judy), Perry (Patricia), Anna Kierstead (Donald Fraser), Tommy (Thelma), Marilyn (Stuart) Hurley and Melodie (John) Fraser; grandchildren, great-grandchildren, 2 sisters Margaret Haynes and Pearl Gallant, nieces, nephews and extended family.
    Evelyn was predeceased by her husband Harvey “Douglas” Haynes; Sisters Annie Noiles, Lillian Turner, Viola Locke; Brothers Alfred, Avery and John.
    Visitation will take place Tuesday, June 9, 2015 from 2 – 4 p.m. at Campbell’s Funeral Home (98 Church St. Amherst 902-667-9906).
    Interment will follow the visitation at the Lorneville Cemetery.

    Sanford Weldon Jackson age 67, of Amherst passed away, Saturday, August 16, 2003 as a result of a boating accident. Born in Amherst Head, he was a son of Eileen (Smith) Jackson of Amherst and the late Alfred Jackson.

    Sanford was employed at IMP Aerospace, Amherst as a Stationary Engineer for 46 years. He loved rebuilding old engines and antique cars and was an avid participant of the Antique Mechanical Fair in Amherst.

    Sanford had several friends whom he enjoyed sharing his knowledge of antiques and engines. He loved bluegrass music and enjoyed bluegrass festivals.

    He was a dear friend to all and loved his family.

    He is survived by his wife the former Donna Wheaton, daughters Joyce (Wendell) Hollis, Beatrice Marks and Bonnie Mae (Rennie) Bugley all of Amherst, son Donald (Annette) Jackson of Amherst, brothers Mayhue (Ruby) of Grande Cache, Alberta, Carman (Jean) and John (Dianne) both of Amherst, Bruce (Cindy) of Galatia, Illinois, U.S.A., and Brian (Gwen) of Fenwick, sisters Brenda (Reginald) White and Judy (Bliss) Baker both of Amherst, Jocelyn Jackson of Moncton, Patricia (Garth) Gates of Truro, Starr (Robin) MacLean of Strathcona and Wanda Thorburn of Petawawa, Ont., many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, uncles and aunts.

    Sanford was predeceased by his father Alfred by 9 years, infant daughter Doris (Dolly) Marie and a sister Gwenda by 43 years.

    Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation.

    Funeral service will be held on Thursday at 2 p.m. from Campbell's Funeral Home, 98 Church St., Amherst with Rev. Danny Compton officiating. Interment will take place in the Head Of Amherst Cemetery. Donations in his memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the charity of your choice.

    Dana George Oulton age 71 of Amherst passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, July 26, 2007 at home.

    Born in Lorneville, N.S, he was a son of the late Lawrence and Viola (Jackson) Oulton

    Dana was an avid hunter, fisher and enjoyed spending time with his son. He was a wonderful husband, father, brother, grandfather, great grandfather and uncle, and will be dearly missed by all.

    Dana is survived by his loving wife of 50 years Sharon Catherine (Chapman) Oulton; one son: Kevin (Susan) of Amherst; three daughters: Marilyn (Trevor) Cox, Cathy (Byron) Carter and Donna (Joseph) Roberts all of Amherst; sister: Phyllis (Eddy) Oulton of Halifax N.S.; brother: Eric (Faye) of Summerside, P.E.I.; sister in law: Shirley Miller of Dartmouth N.S.; 14 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

    Gerald "Gerry" Turner 1941-2009

    Gerald "Gerry" Maurice Turner, 68 years of age, of Tidnish, passed away on Friday, September 25, 2009 at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre. Born in Amherst he was a son of the late Gerald Turner Sr. and Lillian Turner (Jackson).

    A linesman, he worked for several years in Fort McMurray retiring to the Maritimes. Gerry will be missed by the people that knew him best and the people he liked to hunt and fish with. He will especially be missed by Neil and Debbie Chapman who took care of him for a few years.

    He is survived by daughters, Dawn Wright (Peter), Diane MacKenzie and Cindy Henderson; a son Terry (Lori) Turner; grandchildren, Kathy, Bailey, Owen and Allison Wright; brothers Kenneth, Roderick, Douglas; sisters, Linda, Beverly, Kim.

    Besides his parents he was predeceased by one infant sister.

    Cremation has taken place under the care of Furlong-Jones Funeral Home, 70 Church St. Amherst, NS (902-664-1080). No Funeral Service by request. Gerry's cremains will be taken to Newfoundland.

    The family request memorial donations be made to the Amherst Food bank to help with Christmas Supper for the less fortunate.

    TWADDLE, Owen Maurice - 60 years of age. It is with great sadness that our loving father, grandfather and lifelong friend passed away December 16, 2004, very peacefully, surrounded by his family and friends after a very brief sickness with cancer in Dartmouth General Hospital. He was predeceased by his wife, Jeanne (Lamb); parents, Annie and Harry Noiles; father, Maurice Twaddle, and his infant sister, Rose Marie. He is survived by his children, Karen (Eric Moir), Dartmouth; Susan, New Brunswick; Owen David (Kelli), Petawawa; Rachel (Chris Stewart), Dartmouth. "Grumpy" will be deeply missed by his pride and joy, his grandchildren, Katrina, Makenna, Luisa and Stan Lucas. He will be sadly missed by his big brother, Keith Noiles (Laura), Massachusetts; mother, Margaret Haynes (Eugene); sisters, Gloria King, Janey Ogden; brother, Paul Haynes; many nieces and nephews and his special friend, Sheila Cormier. He retired to his hometown of Amherst after retiring from the Royal Canadian Navy after 32 years of service. He sailed with many friends on many ships, including The Cape Scott, Yukon, Annapolis, Iroquois and the Gatineau. No matter where the "Worm" went, he knew everyone. He also worked at the Rifle Range and the Fleet School. In retirement he became quite a regular at the "Office" with all his buddies. He loved hockey, his time at the cottage at Jacksons Point, his hunting trips, his feeds of lobster and deer meat, having a few "smiles" with great friends. He enjoyed his Tuesday night darts with his buddies. He loved music and a great jive. He made many great friends after returning to Amherst and we thank them for keeping an eye on him. We will forever miss you Dad, see you on the clam tide. Visitation was held in Furlong's Funeral Home in Amherst, Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. His funeral service will be held in Cumberland Memorial Chapel in Amherst today at 11 a.m. with Rev. Patti Blundell officiating. We thank the nurses at Dartmouth General, especially Maureen. We thank all his navy friends for the stories shared with us at the hospital, it helped us greatly. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Amherst Branch of the Royal Canadian Legion for the Owen Twaddle Memorial Bursary.

    It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Faye Doreen Jackson Kavalak, age 70, of Springhill.  Faye passed away at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre on Friday, October 30, 2015 with her family by her side. 
    Born in Springhill, NS, she was a daughter of the late Avery and Olive (Carter) Jackson.
    Faye loved to play Bingo and always enjoyed going to the games.  She enjoyed reading and most recently spending time on her computer, keeping up with family and friends.

    Norma Jean Gordon (January 23, 1950 - September 7, 2012)Gordon (Jackson), Norma Jean - 62, Oxford, passed away Friday, September 7, 2012. Born in Moncton, NB, she was a daughter of Jeanette Jackson and the late John Jackson. Norma is survived by her daughters, Carrie (Rick) Vassallo; Paula (Marcel) Wood; son, Andrew Gordon; beloved companion, Howard Black; sisters, Merry Anne (Bill) Chapman; Teri (Rick) Porter; Betty Jackson; Carol Jackson; Grace (Syd) Archer; Holly (Dan) Rector; Pearl Jackson; Laurie (Garry) Payne; brothers, Brian (Belinda); Rob (Connie); Jim (Darlene); grandchildren, Tyler, Brooke, Chelsea, Robbi Lynn and Lila; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Gary Gordon; father, John Jackson, nephew, Jessie Payne. Norma was a member of several local groups over the years including Oxford Area Lionettes, Pythian Sisters, Oxford Curling Club, and Oxford Fire Dept. Ladies Auxiliary. She loved spending time at her cottage at the beach where she enjoyed collecting sea glass on longwalks. Norma loved caring for all creatures especially her cat Bobbi. She was a devoted fan of Johnny Reid music and attended many of his concerts. Norma also enjoyed attending yard sales, shopping, playing dominos and cards, traveling and dancing. Most importantly Norma enjoyed spending time with family and friends, she was full of laughter and shared her kindness and enthusiasm for life with everyone who knew her. Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. Wednesday, September 12 in MacDiarmid’s Funeral Home, 5075 Main Street, Oxford (447-2930). A service celebrating Norma’s life will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, September 13 in Trinity United Church, Oxford. The family would like to thank the medical and nursing staff at the QEII 5.2 as well as the emergency department and Jennifer Fifield for the loving care provided to Norma and her family.     Georgie Helpard March 30, 1953 - January 20, 2017

    It is with very heavy hearts that the family of Georgie Evelyn Helpard age 63 of Lorneville, NS announce her sudden passing on Friday, January 20, 2017 at home. Born in Amherst, she was a daughter of the late H. Douglas and Evelyn (Jackson) Haynes. 
    Georgie was a devoted member of the Lorneville United Church where she sang in the choir, and was a newly appointed Steward of the church. She was also a faithful member of the UCW where she served as Vice President. 
    Georgie was leader of the Tidnish TOPS program for the past eight years. She loved playing cribbage and was an avid bingo player who could regularly be found travelling the county to enjoy a game. During the summer, you could find Georgie spending time with her family camping at the beach, or snorkelling for clams in the Northumberland Straight. During the winter you could find her in her favourite chair crocheting a beautiful table cloth, some slippers, or a hat for her granddaughters. She also loved cuddling in the evenings with her many fur babies while reading her favourite book or playing a game of Sudoku. 
    Georgie will be sadly missed by her loving and devoted husband of 45 years, Eric, her children Marlo Richard (Colin Marriott) and Marcia (Cameron) Moyles both of Amherst and Eric Jr. of Lorneville, grandchildren Madison Richard, Mia and Amelia Moyles, brothers Gary (Margaret), Harvey (Judy), Perry (Patricia) and Tommy (Thelma) Haynes, sisters Nancy (Gary) Porter, Anna Kierstead (Donald Fraser), Marilyn Hurley and Melodie (John) Fraser all of the Amherst area and many nieces and nephews. 
    Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 25, 2017 from 12 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 2 p.m. all in Campbell’s Funeral Home, 98 Church St., Amherst (902-667-9906). 
    Rev. K. Ruth Gamble DLM will officiate. 
    Family flowers only. 
    Memorial donations in Georgie’s memory may be made to the Lorneville United Church or the charity of your choice.
