    MOFFATT, Charles (Scoop) - 83, Sackville, N.B., died February 17, 1996, in Sackville Memorial Hospital, New Brunswick. Born in Sydney, Cape Breton Co., he was a son of the late Robert and Edith (STRANG) Moffatt. A graduate of Mount Allison Academy, he returned to Sackville and was for 25 years editor of Sackville Tribune Post; former executive director of Maritime Motor Trucking Association; general manager of Charlottetown Chamber of Commerce for eight years and former information officer for Mount Allison University. Active in many charitable organizations, he was campaign chairman of Sackville branch of The Arthritis Society at the time of his death. Surviving are his wife, the former Pearl Allen; son, William, Kitchener, Ont.; daughter, Rae (Mrs. Connie Doiron), Charlottetown, P.E.I.; brother, Roy, Sydney; sisters, Jessie (Mrs. Harry Angel), Etta De Young,Sydney; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren. Memorial service 2 p.m. Tuesday in Jones Funeral Home, 56 Bridge St., Sackville, N.B., Rev. Lorna MacQueen officiating, where a reception will follow. In lieu of flowers, donations to any charity.

    SYDNEY Jessie Edith Angel, 91, Ankerville Street, Sydney, passed away at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, on Thursday, March 23, 2006.

    Born in Amherst, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Edith (Strang) Moffatt.

    Jessie was a member of First United Church, Sydney, the UCW and active in church projects. She was also a member of the Kinettes, Y's Menettes and the Bairncroft Auxiliary.

    Surviving are her sons, Robert (Karen), Amherst, and Norman (Carolyn), Ottawa; sister, Etta DeYoung, Sydney; and grandchildren, Nelson, Meredith, James Ross and Kelly Lynn.

    She was predeceased by her husband, Harry and brothers, Russell, Charles and Roy.

    Visitation will take place at Sydney Memorial Chapel, Friday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will be held at First United Church, Saturday 11 a.m., Rev. Donald MacDonald officiating. Interment in Alfred Smith Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First United Church, Sydney Y's Men's Club, Muscular Dystrophy Association or a charity of choice.     Jennie Lavinia Smith TIDNISH BRIDGE, NB - Jennie Lavinia Smith, 87 years of age, of Tidnish Bridge, N.B. passed away on Wednesday, April 9, 2003 in The Moncton City Hospital. Born in Tidnish Bridge, N.B she was a daughter of the late Arthur and Bertha (Strang) Davidson. Jennie had taught school in Cumberland Co. She was a member and a cornerstone of the Tidnish Bridge United Church. She enjoyed gardening, Auction 45's and card parties. A strong and independent lady, she was a lifelong member of her community and a proud supporter of it. She is survived by a daughter, Patricia Mooney of Gaetz Brook, N.S.; a sister, Reta Smith (Morley) of Lower Shinimicas; and grandchildren, Christopher and Sarah Mooney. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Victor Douglas; sisters, Jessie in infancy and May Read; brothers, Herbert, Edwin, Arnold and Arthur; a half sister, Maggie Smith; a half brother, William Davidson. Her remains are resting at Furlong's Funeral Home in Amherst with visitation on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Her funeral service will be held at the Cumberland Memorial Chapel on Saturday at 2 p.m. with Rev. Jay Ettinger officiating. Burial will take place later in the spring in the Riverside Cemetery, Tidnish Bridge. Should friends desire, memorial contributions may be made to the Tidnish Bridge United Church, the Friends of The Moncton City Hospital or to the charity of your choice.

    Reta Isabel Smith (Davidson)
    1923-2007


    SMITH (Davidson), Reta Isabel - Lower Shinimicas, Cumberland Co., passed away on Thursday, June 28, 2007, in Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre in Upper Nappan. Born in 1923 at Tidnish Bridge, N.B., she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Bertha (Strang) Davidson.

    She was a graduate of the Provincial Normal School, and taught for nine years at schools in West Amherst, Fenwick, Salem, Amherst Shore, Lorneville and Tidnish Bridge before her marriage in 1951. In later years she worked as bookkeeper for Cumberland Rural Telephone Co. She was an active member and treasurer of the Lower Shinimicas UCW and the Sunrise Senior Citizens for many years.

    She is survived by her husband, Morley; sons, Alford, Lower Shinimicas; Arthur, Toronto; daughters, Karen (John MacLeod), Dartmouth, and Sheila, Lower Shinimicas; sister-in-law, Mildred Davidson, Pointe Claire, Que., and nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers, Herbert (Kay), Edwin, Arnold and Arthur, and her sisters, Jessie (in infancy), Jennie (Victor) Smith and May (Thomas) Read, as well as half-sister, Margaret (Cyrus) Smith, and half-brother, William (Muriel) Davidson.

    Visitation will be held in Furlong-Jones Chapel (64 Church St., Amherst) on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will be held on Monday at 2 p.m. in Furlong-Jones Chapel conducted by Rev. Stephen Longmoore, with interment in Riverside Cemetery, Tidnish Bridge.     DAVIDSON, Arthur Robert Roland - 70, East Cumberland Lodge, Pugwash, died
    August 1, 1997, in the lodge. Born at Tidnish Bridge, he was the youngest
    son of the late Arthur and Bertha (STRANG) Davidson. He worked as a
    machinist with Sifto Salt, Nappan, retiring to Tidnish Bridge. He was an
    adherent of the United Church of Canada and attended card parties in the
    area. Surviving are sisters, Jennie Smith, Tidnish Bridge, Reta (Mrs.
    Morley Smith), Lower Shinimicas; brother, Arnold, Pointe Clare, Que.; 13
    nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by sisters, May Read, Jessie in
    infancy; brothers, Herbert, Edwin; half-brother, William Davidson;
    half-sister, Maggie Smith. Funeral 2 p.m. today in Campbell's Funeral Home,
    Amherst, Rev. Allan Griffin officiating. Burial will follow in Riverside
    Cemetery, Tidnish Bridge. Reception to follow in Tidnish Bridge United

    Grace K. Terris, 99, of Drew Nursing Home, Sackville and formerly of Terris Ave., Moncton, passed away peacefully at her residence on Sunday February 6, 2011. Born in Tidnish Bridge, NS, she was the daughter of the late W. Parker and Blanch (Dobson) Strang. She was a former employee of Zellers on Main St., the business office of the Moncton Hospital, Colpitts the Stationer and retired from B. E. Smith and Co. Grace was a Charter member of Mountain View United Church and attended Sackville United Church. Grace served on the Board of Elders, Finance Board, was a former C.G.I.T. Leader and former representative for the Presbytery and Moncton Area Council of Churches. She was also a member of Pearl Rebekah Lodge, Moncton Business and Professional Ladies Assoc., the Municipal and Provincial Liberal Assoc. and the Lupus Assoc. Grace will be sadly missed by her daughter, Gloria Hicks (Robert), Sackville; grandchildren, Karen Poirier; Tobin Hicks (Faith); Timothy Hicks (Laura); Todd Hicks (Louise); 10 great grandchildren; sister, Maudie Allen, Moncton. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Hartson Terris (1972); step-son, Leonard Terris; brother, Richard Strang and half brother, George Strang.
    Visitation will be held at Ferguson Knowles Funeral Home, 1657 Mountain Road, Moncton (858-1995) Tuesday 2 to 4pm.     ALLEN, MAUDIE M. - Maudie M. Allen, 96, of Moncton, passed away peacefully at her residence on Saturday evening, May 26, 2012. Born in Tidnish Bridge, NS, she was the daughter of the late Parker and Blanche (Dobson) Strang. Maudie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister. She was a Charter member of Mountain View United Church and a Charter and Life member of the UCW of her church. Maudie enjoyed cooking, knitting, spending time with her family especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Maudie will be sadly missed by her daughter, Linda Curwin (William) of Lower Coverdale; sons, Douglas (Beverley); Richard “Rickey” (Patricia) both of Moncton; precious grandchildren, Stephen, Andrew, Debbie, Shelley, Craig, Chris, Dr. Scott, Shari-Anne, Dr. Shane and Ashley; 17 cherished great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Eric B. Allen (Sept. 1993); sister, Grace and brothers, Richard “Dick” and George.
