    OBITUARY

    AMHERST - W. Blair CHAPPELL, 85, formerly of Truemanville, Cumberland County, retired farmer, died Wednesday in Lockhart's Nursing Home, Amherst. Born at Head of Amherst, he was a son of the late Willis O. and Mary Ann (Wood) Chappell. Surviving are two daughters, Evelyn (Mrs. Carl Trueman), Truemanville; Ruby (Mrs. Raymond Brown), Athol; a son, Layton, London, Ont.; two sisters, Leona (Mrs. Robert Crossman) Tidnish; Alice (Mrs. Warren Black), Springhill; three brothers, Raymond and Rex K., both of Amherst; Lawrence, Brookdale; seven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren. Besides his parents, his wife, the former Vera Oulton of Lorneville; a daughter, Norma (Mrs. Frank Allen), and a son, Albert, predeceased him. The body is at Furlong's Funeral Home, Amherst, where funeral service will be held today at 2 p.m., Rev. Russell Harding officiating. Committal service will be in Highland cemetery receiving chapel. Interment will be in Truemanville in the spring.

    W married Vera Mildred Oulton 29 Jun 1921, Westmorland Parish, Westmorland, New Brunswick, Canada. Vera (daughter of Charles Edward Oulton and Ruby Jane Smith) was born Oct 1902; died 12 Jun 1951, Amherst, Cumberland, Nova Scotia, Canada; was buried , Truemanville Cemetery, Truemanville, Cumberland, Nova Scotia, Canada.     Evelyn Trueman
    1923-2009
    The death of Evelyn Trueman, age 85, of Truemanville, NS, occurred on Sunday, August 9, 2009 at the High Crest Nursing Home, Springhill.

    Born in Truemanville, she was a daughter of the late Blair and Vera (Oulton) Chappell.

    Evelyn was a member of the Sunrise Trinity United Church and UCW. She was also a member of the Pythian sisters, Elizabeth Temple # 6. A loving and caring person, she was always available to help anyone in need including her family. Evelyn was a talented person, being able to do crafts, knitting, sewing and making numerous wedding cakes for family members.

    Evelyn will be sadly missed by her sister, Ruby (Raymond) Brown, Athol; grandson, Keith (Natasha) Trueman, Truemanville whom she enjoyed taking care of as a child; great granddaughter, Etta; daughter-in-law, Sandra Trueman; sisters-in-law, Ruby Trueman, Sarah (Kenny) Atkinson and Opal Chappell; nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Carl, Step-son Ralph, a sister, Norma and brothers, Albert and Layton.

    Evelyn's remains have been cremated under the direction of the Furlong Jones Funeral Home, Amherst (667-8777) from where a memorial service will be held on Wednesday, August 12, 2009 at 11 am, Rev. Philip Read officiating. Burial in the Truemanville Cemetery.

    OBITUARY

    AMHERST - Mrs. Frank G. ALLEN, 39, of 3 Central Ave., Amherst, died at Highland View Hospital Thursday morning following a lengthy illness. She was seriously ill for the past few months. She was the former Norma Mae Chappell, daughter of W. Blair Chappell and the late Mrs. Chappell of Truemanville. She was born in Truemanville, but lived in Amherst for the past 20 years. She was predeceased by her mother in 1951. Besides her husband she is survied by one daughter, Marie (Mrs. Perley McFadden, Jr.) of Amherst; one son, Albert Allen, at home; her father, W. Blair Chappell of Truemanville; two sisters, Evelyn (Mrs. Carl Trueman) of Truemanville; Ruby (Mrs. Raymond Brown) of Athol; one brother, Layton Chappell of London, Ont.; three nieces and one nephew. Her body is at Furlongs Funeral Home. Funeral service will be from the funeral home Saturday at 2:30 p.m., conducted by Rev. E. Theo Crozier. The committal service will be at Highland Cemetery receiving vault with burial in the spring.

    LONDON, Ont. - The death of Layton Walter CHAPPELL, age 73, occurred at the London Health Sciences Centre on Sunday, Sept. 17, 2000. Surviving are his wife, Mary Anne; son, Chris and his wife Sue Chappell of Woodstock; daughter, Tracy and her husband Mark Muszak of Kitchener; grandsons, Danny, Jonathan and Darren; sisters, Evelyn Trueman and Ruby and husband Raymond Brown of Athol, N.S.; a cousin, Russell Beaton of Amherst; and nieces, Marilyn, Diane and Wendy. Interment of ashes will be in Truemanville at a later date.
