HAMPDEN - Ina Mae (Chambers) Strang, 86, wife of the late Richard M. Strang Sr., passed away Sept. 8, 2002, at a Brewer health-care facility. She was born in Bangor, Dec. 1, 1915, the daughter of Harry and Addie (Willey) Chambers Sr. She had been a resident of Hampden since 1949. Ina worked many years for area shoe manufacturers and was well known for her stitching. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, watching soap opera's and especially her family's camp at Beech Hill Pond. Ina's focus in life was always on her children, grandchildren and family, and her greatest enjoyment came from family gatherings. She is survived by her sons, Richard M. Strang Jr. and his wife, Marjorie of Dedham and Boynton Beach, Fla., and Glenn Strang and his wife, Judy of Brewer; a sister, Ida VanWart of Newburgh; grandchildren, Michael Strang, Kim Achorn, Carol Violette, Mark Strang, Juli-Ann Leakos, Jean Hogan and Glenn Jay Strang; 13 great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Richard M. "Pappy" Strang Sr. in 1995; by a sister, Etta Woodbury; and a brother, Harry Chambers Jr. Visiting will be held 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, at the Hampden-Gilpatrick Funeral Home, 45 Western Ave., Hampden, where a funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, with the Rev. Elizabeth Vernon, pastor of the North Brewer-Eddington United Methodist Church, officiating. Interment will be in Lakeview Cemetery, Hampden. Gestures of remembrance may be made to the North Brewer-Eddington United Methodist Church, care of Robert Adams, 1095 North Main St., Brewer, ME 04412.

HOLDEN - Mark Richard Strang, 46, son of Marjorie A. (Arbo) and Richard M. Strang Jr., died unexpectedly March 23, 2012, at his home. He was born Dec. 11, 1965, in Bangor, and had been a longtime resident of the Bangor area. Mark was a 1984 graduate of Brewer High School. He was a strong man who loved spending time with his family, especially at camp. He loved animals and children, and will always be remembered for his knack for "winding up" the kids. He is survived by his parents of Dedham and Boynton Beach, Fla.; two sisters, Kim Achorn and her husband, Tim, of Bangor, and Carol Violette and her husband, Sam, of Bradford; and one brother, Michael Strang and his wife, Nancy, of Orrington. He was a devoted uncle to Jason, Alison, Rachel, Eric, Emily, Calvin, Emma, Cole and Thomas; and several aunts, uncles and cousins. Family and friends may visit 5-8 p.m. Thursday, March 29, at Kiley & Foley Funeral Service, 69 State St., Brewer. A service honoring Mark's life with a time of fellowship and refreshments afterward will be held 1 p.m. Friday, March 30, at North Brewer-Eddington United Methodist Church, 31 Main Road, Eddington, with the Rev. Dr. Tracy Reeves, pastor, presiding. Burial will be at a later date.
