DIED Â Mr. Samuel J. Mattinson, Mount Pleasant, passed away at Highland View Hospital recently after an operation, aged about 52 years. Â He had a farm at Mount Pleasant, but was a sawyer of late years. Â He leaves a widow, 3 daughters, Mrs. Ernest Black, Oxford, Mrs. James Fraser and Mrs. Angus Dixon, River View and one son, Floyd at home. Â The remains were brought home and the funeral was conducted by Rev. G.R. Kyle, and burial took place at the Birch Grove Cemetery.

MRS. G. ERNEST BLACK - OXFORD - Funeral service was held Aug. 15 at the Church of the Nazarene for Mrs. Ernest Black of Oxford, who died Aug. 13 at Lockhart's Nursing Home in Amherst after a lengthy illness at the age of 77. The daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Mattinson of Mount Pleasant, she was a member of the Church of the Nazarene, and a life member of both the Women's Missionary Society an the British and Foreign Bible Society. Mrs. Black is survived by her husband; one daughter Sylvia (Mrs. Thomas H. Berry), Halifax; one brother Floyd S. Mattinson, Riverview, N.S.; and two sisters, Mrs. James P. Fraser and Mrs. Angus Dixon, both of Oxford. Rev. R. R. Cribbis officiated at the funeral service. Interment was in Pine Grove Cemetery, Oxford.

OXFORD - Mrs. James Phillip Fraser, 88, of Oxford, died Tuesday in All Saints Hospital, Springhill. Born in Mount Pleasant she was the former Mary Mattinson, daughter of the late Samuel and Alice (Oulton) Mattinson. She resided in Riverview for most of her life. She was an adherent of the Presbyterian Church. She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Thelma Colborne, Dorothy (Mrs. Newton Wood), and a son, Floyd, all of Oxford; 14 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband; three sons, Percy, Norman, Carl; two sisters, Martha, Olevia; a brother, Floyd. The body is at MacDermid's Funeral Home, Oxford, where funeral service will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. Rev. Glen MacDonald will officiate. RIVERTON - Mrs. Angus Dixon, 83, formerly of Oxford, Cumberland County, died Sunday in Pictou County Home for the Aged. The former Lydia Sophia Mattinson, she was born at Mount Pleasant, daughter of the late Samuel and Alice (Oulton) Mattinson. She lived in Oxford for 25 years.
Surviving are a daughter, Gladys (Mrs. George Williams), Hopewell; five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; a sister, Renia (Mrs. James Fraser), Oxford; a brother, Floyd, Riverview. She was predeceased by her husband and a sister, Martha.
The body is at H.C. MacQuarrie Funeral Home, Stellarton, and will be transferred today to Black's Funeral Home, Oxford, from where funeral will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. Interment will be in Mount Pleasant cemetery, Cumberland County.

FRASER, Floyd Lewis - Lower Main Street, Oxford, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 15, 2000, at his home in the presence of his loving family at the age of 83. Born in Riverview, Cumberland Co., he was a son of the late James P. Fraser and leRena (Mattinson) Fraser. He was a member of the St. James Presbyterian Church, Oxford. He was a journeyman in the carpentry trade, builder of many large construction projects in Oxford, and the surrounding area of Cumberland County, including the Oxford Medical Centre and the Senior Citizens Complex in Collingwood. He was an avid fisherman, hunter and master gardener and was known in the community for his faith in God, kindness to all and his endless generosity. He is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Cora Jeanette (Simpson) Fraser; daughters, Joyce McMasters and her husband Bruce, Millvale; Faye Walzak and her husband Greg, Chatham, Ont.; son, James Fraser and his wife Donna, Oxford; sister, Ms. Dorothy Wood, Halifax; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his sister, Mrs. Thelma Colborne; brothers, Carl, Norman and Percy Fraser. A loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, he will be sadly missed by all who knew him. Remains are resting in Allen's Funeral Home, 60 Water Street, Oxford. Visitation was held Sunday afternoon and evening. Funeral service will be held 2 p.m. today, in Allen's Funeral Home, 60 Water Street, Oxford. Burial to take place in Mount Pleasant Cemetery. Donations may be made to the charity of choice.

She was resident of Hopewell most of her life but has been a guest in Haven Brook Manor and Valley View Villa since 1995. Gladys was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Hopewell. TRURO - Mrs. Muriel Stevens, 60, of Bible Hill, died Saturday in Lillian Fraser Memorial Hospital, Tatamagouche. Born in Oxford, she was daughter of the late Floyd and Margaret (MacKay) Mattinson. She was a member of Jehovah's Witnesses. She is survived by two daughters, Sharon (Mrs. Kenneth Byers), Lower Truro, and Allyson (Mrs. Allan Hayman), North River; two sons, Gordon, Debert, and Ian, Kitimat, B.C.; two brothers, Vern Mattinson, Hilden, and Donald, Port Howe, and 10 grandchildren. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Lloyd. The body is in Kennedy Memorial Residence, where funeral will be 2 p.m. Monday, with burial in Aenon Cemetery, North River. Donations may be made to the Nova Scotia Heart Foundation or the Willow Lodge, Tatamagouche.

WILLIAMS, George Leo - 65, 363 Brother St., New Glasgow, died May 22, 1996, in Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow. Born in Riverview, Cumberland Co., he was a son of Gladys (Dixon) Williams, Haven Brook Manor, Riverton and the late George Williams. He retired from Michelin in 1991. He was a member of Michelin Social Club and bowling league and St. Augustine's Anglican Church, Trenton. Surviving are his wife, the former Doris Murphy; sisters, Joan (Mrs. Don Mills), Hopewell; Betty Barkhouse, Riverton; brothers, Glen, Bedford; Monte, Hopewell; several nieces and nephews.
