    Obituary

Donna Gail Miller SEABRIGHT / AYLESFORD LAKE - It is with extreme shock and sadness that the family of Donna Gail Miller, 64, of Seabright, Halifax County announce her sudden death on Monday, January 22, 2007 in the QEII Health Sciences Centre, Halifax. Born in Amherst, Donna claims to have had many lives-but what she really meant by that, was her many careers. Several of these careers included sales; both on the road and real estate in Richmond Hill, Ontario and home in Amherst. She was the owner of a successful women's clothing store, La Cr%C3%A8me Boutique in Amherst and later Halifax. With all those careers, Donna's real love was renovating old houses, including her last major project, the renovation of the John Douglas House Bed and Breakfast in Glen Margaret. It was also home to her other love, her craft shop. After turning the lower level into a shop to fill full of her sewing projects, her daughter Christine saw the old house and moved in, antiques and all to run the bed and breakfast. With her new puppy Dusty, Donna planned to fill her shop with her crafting friends and their projects and take her turn running the Picket Fence Crafters shop so she had time to continue playing bridge with the Waverly Bridge Club. She also enjoyed her Thursday Morning Tantallon Craft Group. She also looked forward to spending time at the family cottage at Aylesford Lake, another labour of love renovation project. Politically active, Donna helped get out the vote for many candidates over the years, both federally and provincially. She is a past Commissioner and Chair of the Amherst Business Improvement District Commission, and was active at various points in her busy life with the I.O.D.E., Zonta, and various craft groups. Donna was the daughter of the late Layton and Fern (Trenholm) Cameron. She is survived by her husband, Douglas "Doug"; a daughter, Christine Bales, Glen Margaret, Halifax County; a son, Cameron (Sandra) and cherished granddaughter, Cassiopia, Ottawa; two step-sons, Keith Miller (Arlene Girardin), Bedford and Brent Miller, Moncton; her mother-in-law, Mrs. Leola Miller, Windsor, formerly of Kentville; two brothers, Gordon (Mary Lynn), Amherst and Yarmouth; Gregory (Donna), Amherst; nieces and nephews. Cremation has taken place under the direction of the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville. Visitation will be held from 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, January 24, 2007 in the Bay Road Baptist Church, Exit 4, Timberlea, where the funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, January 25, 2007, Rev. Alex Rockwell officiating. The scattering of her cremated remains will take place at Aylesford Lake, Kings County at a later date. Donations in memory may be made to the Canadian Diabetic Association and the Canadian Cancer Society or the charity of your choice. Inquiries may be directed to the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville (902) 678-3339.
