Obituary
It is with great sadness that the family of Audrey McGee announces her death at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital on February 7th, 2010 at the age of 86. Born in Springhill, NS, she was the daughter of the late Clarence and Sadie (Patterson) Daniels and the wife of the late Roy McLean and James McGee. Audrey leaves to mourn her daughter, Royene McLeod of Oromocto; 10 grandchildren; several great grandchildren; half sisters, Leona Brown, Rhoda Rushton and Lois, all of Nova Scotia and brother-in-law, Harold Perrin of Oromocto. In addition to her husbands and parents, she was also predeceased by her daughters Linda Perrin and Beverly McLean, son Leonard McLean, half sister, Marjorie Purdy and half brother, Malcolm Rushton. Audrey was an active member of the Oromocto United Church, the Ladies Auxiliary # 93, the Friendship Club Senior Group and the FSNA. Visitation will be held at Oromocto Funeral Home, 108 Winnebago St., on Thursday, February 11th, 2010 from 6 to 9 pm with a Ladies Auxiliary # 93 Tribute Service being held a 7 pm. The funeral service will be held on Friday, February 12th at Oromocto United Church at 2 pm with Rev. Bob McDowell officiating. Interment in the Burton Cemetery will take place in the spring. RUSHTON, Rhoda Beverley - 63, Bass River, passed away January 10, 2008 at home. Born in Montrose, she was a daughter of the late Urias and Sadie (Patterson) Rushton. Rhoda worked at Stanfield's Ltd. and for the last 27 years she was employed at Crossley Carpets. She was talented in knitting, crocheting and quilt making. Rhoda enjoyed playing cribbage, doing jigsaw puzzles and was also an avid reader. She is survived by her son, Arnold Stonehouse, Bass River; sisters, Ruth Rushton, Lois Green, both of Great Village; Marjorie Purdy, Montrose; Leona Brown, Truro; brother, Malcolm (Fern) Rushton, Truro; half-sister, Audrey McGee, Oromocto, N.B.; sister-in-law, Shirley Rushton, Wolfville; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by brothers, Milton, Clifford and Carl; half-sister, Gerry; half-brothers, Herb and Ken. PURDY, Marjorie Esther - 69, Montrose, passed away in Colchester Regional Hospital on August 26, 2008. Born in Portapique Mountain on September 8, 1938, she was a daughter of the late Urias and Sadie (Patterson) Rushton. She is survived by her daughters, Pam Purdy (Randy Conrad), Port Williams; Glenda (Brian) Singer, Lloydminster Alta.; sisters, Ruth Rushton and Lois Green, both of Great Village; Leona Brown, Truro; brother, Malcolm (Fern) Rushton, Truro; half-sister, Audrey McGee, Oromocto, N.B.; sister-in-law, Shirley Rushton, Wolfville; grandsons, Charles MacIntosh, Grande Prairie, Alta.; Danny MacIntosh, Tatamagouche; granddaughters, Heather and Nicole Mazur, Port Williams; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded by her husband, Ernest; daughter, Sheila MacIntosh; brothers, Milton, Clifford, and Carl; sister, Rhoda; half-sister, Gerry; half-brothers, Herb and Ken. Marj worked at several jobs over her life time but the career she loved most was as a home care worker for the County. Upon her retirement she continued doing home care privately for members of the community. Besides spending time with her family, Marj enjoyed reading, knitting, jigsaw puzzles and playing crib. A very special thank you to Dr. Henderson and the palliative care nurses of Colchester Regional Hospital. There will be no visitation by request. The funeral service will be held in Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow St., Truro, at 11 a.m. Saturday, September 13, Rev. Larry Harrison officiating. A reception will follow the service.
