John Addison Murray 1911 - 2003 John A. Murray, 91, husband of Lillian Murray of Clearview St. Moncton, passed away at The Moncton Hospital on Sunday, April 6, 2003. Born in Turtle Creek, NB, on June 11, 1911, he was the son of the late Timothy and Bessie (Tingley) Murray. Prior to his retirement he had been employed at Stairs & Morrow, McEwen's and for over 27 years with the CIBC. John enjoyed flying model aircraft and was known to many as "Mr. Fix It" . He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Lillian (Richardson) Murray; son, Bob Murray (Lynne) of Indian Mountain; sisters, Greta Dryden of Salisbury, Margie Rhindress of Truro, Lucinda Donaldson of Penticton BC; a brother Paul of Upper Coverdale, grandchildren, Scot, Beth, Heather, Craig, as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by a son, Bruce in 1984; sisters, Ina and Grace as well as a brother, Charles. By family request, there will be no visitation prior to the funeral service to be held on Thursday, April 10, 2003 at 2 PM , in the chapel of Fair Haven Funeral Home. A reception for John's friends and family will follow in the family reception room of the funeral home. Greta E. Dryden 1912 - 2003 Greta E. Dryden, 90, of Moncton and formerly of Salisbury and Riverview, passed away at The Moncton Hospital on Monday, June 02, 2003. Born in Turtle Creek, NB on September 11, 1912 she was the daughter of the late Timothy and Bessie (Tingley) Murray. She was a retired cook at the former Atlantic Baptist College. A member of the Salisbury United Baptist Church and attended the Riverview United Baptist Church. A former member of the W.M.S. and the Salisbury Golden Age Senior Citizens Club and a volunteer for 20 years at K.E. Spencer Memorial Home. She is survived by four daughters, Phyllis Schindler (Harley) of Riverview, Daphne Allison of Niagara Falls, On. Christina Zieman (William) of Kincadine, On. and Megan Geldart of Toronto,On. sons Clarence Jr. (Sandra) of Toronto, On. Lawrence (Nancy) of Salisbury and Emery (Nancy) of Salisbury; 20 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.; two sisters, Margarette Rhindress of Truro, NS, and Lucinda Donaldson of Penticton, BC; one brother, Paul Murray (Ruth) of Coverdale; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Clarence E. Dryden in 1985; sisters, Grace Dempsey and Ina Milburn and by two brothers, Charlie and John Murray. Ina B. Milburn 1915 - 2002 Ina B. Milburn, in her 87th year, of Spencer Memorial Nursing Home, Moncton, NB passed away peacefully in her sleep in the early hours of February 17, 2002. Born in Lower Turtle Creek, NB February 23, 1915 she was the daughter of the late Timothy and Bessie (Tingley) Murray. Ina was Chief Operator at the NB Telephone Company in Albert and worked on the Albert Westmorland Bookmobile. At the age of 55 she took her RNA course at The Moncton Hospital and worked there for a number of years. She was involved with many community activities. She was a member of the Albert Baptist Church and the Emmanuel Baptist Church in Moncton, NB. She belonged to the Missionary Society, was a founding member of the Albert County Historical Society as well as being active in many other organizations. She was well known for her strong spirit, creative mind and an enormous green thumb. She is survived by her husband Walter, and three children, Peter (Lorraine) of Rothesay, Richard (Marie) of Anagance and Carole (John Coleman) of Albert Mines; seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren; brother , Paul (Ruth) and John (Lillian). sisters, Lucinda Donaldson, Margaret Rhindress and Greta Dryden. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her brother Charlie and his wife Delna and sister Grace Dempsey. The family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff of the Albert County Hospital, The Moncton Hospital and Spencer Memorial Nursing Home for their kind and gracious care over the past several years. There will be no visitation at the funeral home. Paul A. Murray, 93, of K. E. Spencer Memorial Home and formerly of Upper Coverdale, passed away peacefully at his residence on Thursday, July 31, 2014. Born in Turtle Creek, he was the son of the late Timothy and Bessie (Tingley) Murray. Paul was retired from Moncton Supply Depot #5 with 34 years’ service and was a Veteran of WWII, having served overseas with the Carlton York Regiment. He was a member of Five Points Baptist Church and the Riverview Veterans and Armed Forces Association. Paul was a hobby farmer and worked in the woods cutting his own wood well into his 80’s and loved his grandchildren, especially the babies. He liked taking his family camping, camped across Canada and made a few trips to Florida.
Paul will be sadly missed by his wife of 66 years, Ruth (Kelly); daughter, Paulette O’Neill (George) of Riverview and their children, Holly Doak (Matthew) and Andrew O’Neill (Kari); sons, Ray Murray (Jean) of Lower Coverdale and their children, David Murray (Misti) and Timothy Murray (Angela); Lee Murray (Shirley) of Indian Mountain and their children, Shawn, Troy and Jeremy Murray; great grandchildren, Joel and Julie Murray; Ben and Adrianna Murray and Wallace Doak; sister, Lousinda Donaldson of BC; many nieces, nephews and extended family members. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers, Charlie and John; sisters, Greta, Ina, Grace and Margaret.
Visitation at Fergusons Funeral Home, 1657 Mountain Road, Moncton (858-1995) on Saturday from 6:00 to 9:00 pm. Riverview Veterans and Armed Forces Association Memorial Service on Saturday at 5:45pm. A Celebration of Life Service for Paul will be held at Fergusons Funeral Home Chapel on Sunday, August 3, 2014 at 1:30 pm, with Rev. Gordon Horsman officiating. RHINDRESS, MARGARETTE - Margarette, “Margie” Rhindress, 89, Truro, passed away Tuesday, April 22, 2014 in Vimy Court- Shannex, Bible Hill. Born in Turtle Creek, NB on July 15, 1924 she was the second youngest child of eight children of the late Timothy and Bessie (Tingley) Murray. Margie moved to Truro in 1953 and operated Alice Street Grocery for 19 years. After retiring from the store Margie enjoyed travelling, gardening, being with family and friends and volunteering. Margie was a member of St. Andrew’s United Church and a member of their UCW and Outreach Committee. For many years Margie was an active volunteer with Lioness, Big Brothers/Sisters, the Truro Food Bank, Wynn Park Residents Association and she was an original founding member of DCSC, holding executive offices for many years and worked countless hours volunteering at Bingo nights and all fund raisers. In 1986 Margie received the Zonta Recognition Award for “dedicated service and personal achievement whose efforts have improved the quality of life in Colchester County and encouraged positive attitude toward women.” She is survived by brother Paul (Ruth), sister Lucinda Donaldson, sister-in-law Lillian Murray (Johnny), special Goddaughter Shannon MacPhee, long-time friend Henrietta (Hennie) Fowler, step-daughter Jane Rhindress, four step granddaughters, two great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews and their families. She was predeceased by husband LeRoy (1974), brothers Chuck and Johnny, sisters Grace Dempsey, Greta Dryden, and Ina Milburne.
Arrangements are under the direction of Mattatall~Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro from where visitation will take place on Saturday from 1 pm until funeral service time at 2 pm. Rev. Jay Ettinger will officiate with a reception to follow in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Wallace Bay Cemetery.
