    Robert Fields Ellis, 94, died Sunday, July 31st, at his home in Hollis, NH. He was born in Somerville, Mass., July, 13th 1922, son of Herbert Ross Jennings Ellis and Florence (Foss) Ellis.
    He attended Malden High School. Upon completion, joined the Civilian Conservation Corps and was stationed in Wyoming. In March of 1941 he joined the United States Marine Corps, with basic training taking place at Parris Island in South Carolina. His duty stations included the Brooklyn and Philadelphia/Washington Navy Yards, Anacostia Naval Air station and service in the South Pacific during World War II. Following the bombing of Pearl Harbor by the Japanese, he served with the Third Amphibious Corps, 8th Defense Battalion Anti-Aircraft, in Samoa, the Wallis Islands, Hawaii, the Gilbert Islands and Okinawa. After the end of WWII, Robert joined the United States Navy as a "Sea Bee", serving in Cuba.
    He was an active leader in the Boy Scouts of America, served with the Marine Corps League and various veteran organizations, such as the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He spent many years actively working for the Marine Corps Reserve "Toys for Tots" program.
    Robert is survived by his wife of over 50 years, Joan (Spooner) Ellis, formerly of Stoneham, Mass. He was the father of seven children, Robert Fields (Jr), Candice, Bonnie, David, Ross, Patricia and Charles; nine grandchildren, Richard, Rebecca, Sara, Emerald, Michael, Justin, Kayla, Amanda, Kara; and four greatgrandchildren, Adam, Kira, Rue and Raelee.
    Services will be in private. Donations can be made to the "Semper Fi Fund" "semperfifund.org" in Robert’s name.

    Johanne Louise Hirshson Khan, With heavy heart we announce the passing of Johanne H. Khan, loved mother and grandmother. Born April 13, 1931, Somerville, MA, died April 6, 2014, natural causes. Survived by children, Roshan Khan-O'Connell, Yusuf Khan; grandchildren, Daniel R. O'Connell, Liam O'Connell, Jacob Khan; daughter-in-law, Megan Khan, son-in-law Dan O'Connell. Graduated from Radcliffe College, MA. Traveled to Pakistan for work; married there. Returned and lived in Belmont, MA 50 years ; decades employee, McLean Hospital. Older sister of Paul Hirshson, Boston Globe reporter. Johanne was avid geneaologist, knitter, sewer, quilter; member of New England Quilter's Guild. Loved classical music, reading, crossword puzzles. Recent years spent happily, in front of her laptop, compiling photos of grandchildren, crossword puzzles and sending e-mail to family and friends. Will be buried with parents in Everett Cemetery. A visitation will be held in the Brown & Hickey Funeral Home 36 Trapelo Rd. Belmont on Sunday, June 1 from 2:30 - 3:00 pm. Followed by a funeral service at 3:00 pm.     Winifred A. (Foss) Donatelli October 25, 1941 - October 8, 2013 
    Born in Cambridge, MA  Resided in Peabody, MA
    Winifred A. (Foss) Donatelli age 71, of Peabody, died Tuesday at her home after a brief illness. Born in Cambridge, she was the daughter of the late Howard W. and Gertrude F. (Ernst) Foss. She was raised in Salem and was a graduate of Salem High School. She lived in Lynn for many years, and resided in Manchester, NH for 20 years before moving to Peabody 5 years ago. Winifred enjoyed her time spent with the many friends she made at the Tannery Apartments in Peabody. She enjoyed playing nickels and cards with a group of ladies there, and many of the residents were recipients of her knitting and crocheting projects.
    Winifred was the mother of the late Shawn Drown, and sister of the late Howard Foss and Barbara Turner. She is survived by her children; Cynthia (Drown) Weaver and her husband Gary, Brian Drown, Robin (Drown)Ketchum and Lenny McLaine, all of Lynn; her sister; Brenda Pzenny, her brother; Ronald Foss and her sister-in-law; Linda Foss, all of Salem; as well as 12 grandchildren, 7 great- grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

    Howard W. "Howie" Foss, Jr. December 08, 1943 - March 27, 2009
    Howard W. “Howie” Foss, Jr. age 65 husband of Linda J. (Johnson) Foss died at home late Saturday evening March 27, 2009 following a brief illness. He and his living wife would have celebrated 45 years of marriage in November.
    Born in Somerville, the son of the late Howard W. and Gertrude (Ernst) Sr., he was raised and educated in both Salem and Peabody. Mr. Foss attended Peabody High School, joined the United States Navy Seabees reserves and went on active duty as soon as he was allowed. Just before he was deployed overseas, he and his wife married. Mr. Foss then served his country proudly with two tours of duty in Viet Nam until being honorably discharged and returning home. 
    For many years he was employed as a machinist on the North Shore and was later employed by Garelick Farms (West Lynn Creamery) in Lynn for 15 years until becoming ill. 
    He was an avid motorcycle enthusiast and enjoyed riding his Harley as well as camping in Milo, Maine with his family. Mr. Foss enjoyed tinkering around his home as well as helping other people and could fix anything. 
    In addition to his wife, Mr. Foss is survived by six children Howard Foss and his wife Diane of Salem, Bernadette Foss and her fiancée Dan Page of Sandown, NH, Matthew Foss and his wife Lynette of Salem, Melinda Farley and her husband Eric of Amesbury, Christopher Foss and his wife Roxanne of Somersworth, NH and 
    Jason Foss and his fiancée Jennifer Conners of Indianapolis, IN; a brother Ronald Foss of Peabody; two sisters Winifred Donatelli of Peabody and Brenda Delpozzo of Lawrence; 12 grandchildren; one great grand daughter and many nieces and nephews. 
    He was predeceased by a sister Barbara Turner. 
    His funeral will be held on Wednesday at 11:00 A.M. in the Murphy Funeral Home, 85 Federal St., (cor of North St) Salem. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.
