    OGDEN, CHARLES VERNON – 78, Truro Heights and Tarpon Springs, Florida, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, on Tuesday morning, July 19, 2011, at his home in Tarpon Springs. Born December 22, 1932, in Moncton, New Brunswick, he was a son of the late Charles, Sr. and Florence (Keith) Ogden. Charles and his deceased wife Gerry owned and operated the Canadian Tire Store in Truro for 25 years and also started the Canadian Tire Store in Yarmouth. In 1989, the baseball team he played on, Lewisville Keefe Cubs, was inducted into the New Brunswick Sports Hall of Fame. He enjoyed golfing, playing darts, bowling and traveling all over the world. Charles is survived by his second wife, Gail Ogden; children, Stephen (Debbie), Dartmouth; Linda (Gary) Smith, Yarmouth; Blaine (Karen), Truro Heights; Robie (Joyce Patriquin), Waverley; Sherry (Larry) Davis, Ontario; sisters, Elayne Ayles, Leona LeBlanc, Lynn Ogden; sisters-in-law, Joyce Ogden, Elizabeth Ogden, Ruth Ogden, all of Moncton; brother-in-law, Louis LeBlanc, Montreal; 13 grandchildren; one great grandson; several nieces and nephews; Gail’s children, Kimberly Hill, Mississippi; Christopher Lyth, Virginia. Along with his parents, he was predeceased by his first wife, Geraldine “Gerry” (DeLucry) Ogden; sisters, Eileen Ogden, Veda Ogden; brothers, Morris Ogden, Arnold Ogden, Ted Ogden.
    Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall ~ Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro, where Charles’ family will receive friends from 1-1:45 p.m., Saturday, July 23, 2011, followed by the funeral service at 2 p.m. Reception will follow. Interment in Robie Street Cemetery. Family flowers only. If so desired, donations in Charles’ memory to Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of choice are welcomed.
