    Germaine Raymond 1924-2020

    ATHOL- Germaine "Geri" Raymond, 96 passed away on Saturday December 19, 2020 at Quabbin Valley Healthcare, Athol. Geri was born on May 11.1924 in Springfield, Ma to the late Paul Gariepy and to the late Alice (Vienneau) Gariepy. She lived most of her life in the Ware/ Ludlow area and graduated from Ware High School in 1942. She moved to Athol in 2016 to be close to family. She also enjoyed dancing and spending time with family and friends. Geri is survived by two sons: Philip Raymond Jr. and wife Janet of Kennett Square, PA, Bruce Raymond and wife Mary of Athol. Three grandchildren: Christopher and wife Denna of Greensboro, NC, Jennifer Devine and husband Ned of Royal Oak, MI, Shelley Raymond and husband Keith Reinemann of Brunswick, ME; 5 great granddaughters: Madeline Raymond of NC, Evelyn, Lilian and Josephine of MI, June Reinemann of ME; and her companion Rudolph "Rudy" Krol. She was predeceased by her husband of 56 years: Philip Raymond Sr who passed in 1999, her granddaughter Karen Raymond Duguay who passed in 2016; a brother Robert Gariepy who passed during WWII and two sisters Lorriane Pasek and husband Henry, Arlene Reed and husband Lewis, and many nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held in the spring at Island Pond Cemetery, Ludlow, Ma.     Philip J. Raymond, Jr.
    October 17, 1946 - February 23, 2023
    Age 76
    Loving Husband, Father, Grandfather, Brother, Uncle and Friend.
    It is with great sadness we announce that Philip J. Raymond, Jr., passed away suddenly at the University of Pennsylvania Hospital from complications of a stroke. Phil went to be with the Lord peacefully on February 23rd, 2023, at 76 years of age. He was surrounded by his family.
    Phil was full of life and love, was a selfless friend, and deeply committed to his family. Devoted husband of Janet, and loving father of son Chris (Denna), and daughter, Jennifer Devine (Ned), and his grandchildren, Maddie Raymond, and Evelyn, Lily, and Josie Devine, his brother, Bruce (Mary) and their daughter Shelley Reinemann (Keith) and their daughter June and many cousins. Phil is preceded in death by his father, Philip J. Raymond, Sr., and his mother, Germaine Gariepy Raymond.
    Phil was born in Springfield, MA, and received a liberal arts degree from Providence college and then served our country in Vietnam as an Army Lieutenant in the 597th Transportation Company, earning a Bronze Star. After returning from the war, Phil continued his education by earning his MBA at Western New England College while supporting his family and continuing to serve in the Army Reserves, retiring honorably at the rank of Captain. His long professional career in the insurance and finance industry is filled with achievements, goals attained, and peers uplifted. Recognized as an Industry Legend, leader and mentor by many colleagues and friends.
    Phil proudly served in a multitude of professional, charitable and familial capacities throughout his life, including Rotary Club, Jaycees, soccer and basketball coach, Boy Scout leader, and many others. He pursued all his hobbies with great vigor and detail. His positive attitude, perseverance, engaging sense of humor, intelligence, eagerness to serve others, and desire to succeed in all aspects of his life served him well through all his 76 years. Phil was a pillar of strength in many lives. He will be greatly missed.
    The family will hold a small private service in North Carolina. Phil desired to be cremated and wanted to be where the beaches are soft, the mountains are strong, and the golf season is long.     Karen Elizabeth Duguay
    December 29, 1980 — February 24, 2016

    ATHOL- Karen Elizabeth (Raymond) Duguay, 35 of 144 Rice St., Athol, wife of John L. Duguay, Jr., died unexpectedly Wednesday, February 24, 2016 at the UMass Memorial Medical Center - University Campus, Worcester, MA. She was born in Greenfield, on December 29, 1980, the daughter of Bruce S. and Mary A. (Zanga) Raymond. Karen grew up in Athol and graduated from Athol High School with the class of 1999. She received her Associates Degree from Mount Wachusett Community College and a Bachelors Degree from Fitchburg State College. She worked as a Human Resources Supervisor for I.C. Federal Credit Union and she formerly worked for Resource Management Inc. Karen enjoyed walks with John and their dog Franklin, and cuddling with her cat Penelope. She loved spending time and having fun with her family and friends. She leaves her loving husband John L. Duguay, Jr.; her parents Bruce and Mary Raymond; her sister, Shelley Raymond; her paternal grandmother, Germaine Raymond; and many aunts, uncles and cousins. She was predeceased by her paternal grandfather, Philip Raymond, Sr. and by her maternal grandparents, Amedeo and Albertine Zanga. A prayer service will be held on Sunday, February 28, 2016 at 3:00 PM in the Fiske-Murphy & Mack Funeral Home, 110 New Athol Road, Orange. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. A celebration of life will be held Sunday from 12 - 3 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers please make donations in Karen’s memory to the Sterling Animal Shelter at 17 Laurelwood Rd, Sterling, MA 01564.
