STRANG _ Edward Marvin Loftus Born May 5th, 1910 in Montreal, passing peacefully June 7th, 2006 in Vancouver. Predeceased by his loving wife Jean and brother Donald. Ed will be remembered by daughters Marilyn (Richard), Wendy (Mike), and son Bruce Hodgson (Linda). His grandchildren were very special to him, he will be missed by Karen (Paul), Jenny (John) Steven, Robert, Andy, Lauren and Bryce. Ed worked for Saguenay Shipping in Montreal for 28 years, involved in operations and port labour relations. In 1966 Ed, Jean and Bruce moved to Vancouver. Ed became the first president of the BC Maritime Employers Association. Upon his retirement from the BCMEA, Ed continued his involvement with the Port, working with the Vancouver Port Corporation for several years. Ed relaxed by taking time to play golf or play bridge at Shaughnessy Golf Club. He was an active member at Shaughnessy Heights United Church, through which he became involved as a founding member of CHISHAUN Seniors Residence. His family and community will remember Ed with fondness. The family wishes to thank the wonderful staff at Point Grey Private Hospital for making Ed's time there so comfortable. A memorial service to celebrate Ed's life will be held at Shaughnessy Heights United Church, 1550 W. 33rd Ave, on Wednesday, June 28th at 2:00 PM. In lieu of flowers donations to the Community Lunch Program at Shaughnessy Heights United Church would be appreciated.Edward — Jean Katherine Laing.
