ALLABY (Jewett), Ruth Eileen - 82, Truro, passed away October 30, 2005. Born in Jewett's Mills, York Co., N.B., on February 12, 1923, she was a daughter of the late John Cleveland Jewett and Verna Elizabeth (MacCallum) Jewett. Ruth graduated from Keswick Ridge High School and Chipman Memorial Hospital in St. Stephen, N.B., as a registered nurse. Ruth loved being a nurse, and enjoyed working in various hospitals in Nova Scotia and New Brunswick. Ruth was a member of the First Baptist Church in Truro and participated in the Group 1 Women's Group and their activities. She enjoyed watching hockey and baseball with Stuart, and enjoyed playing bridge with neighbours. Ruth passed along to her children the importance of family, love of travel and her ability to laugh. She enjoyed her grandchildren as well as having her family around her. She was a kind and caring soul. Ruth had Alzheimer's disease and was lovingly cared for by her husband at home for many years. Ruth leaves to mourn her passing her husband of 58 years, Stuart Francis Allaby. She will be sadly missed by her daughters, Pam (Gary) Davis, Truro; Donna Lynds, Salt Springs; Karen Allaby, Squamish, B.C.; Sonja Totten, Truro; Carolyn (David) Maxwell, Halifax; grandchildren, Drew and Stephanie Davis, Matthew, Allissa and Sarah Lynds, Joseph Saxton and Caela Allaby, and Amy and Jonathan Totten; brother; Keith Jewett; sisters, Jean (Horace) Clark, Mabel (Leonard) Peterson, Lois Ryan, and Kathleen (Cedric) Allaby; sisters-in-law, Helen and Bernetta Jewett. Ruth was predeceased by brothers, Myles and Horace. Special thanks to Nancy Fisher, who lovingly continued to care for Ruth until her passing. Family and friends are invited to share in the celebration of Ruth's life, on Thursday, November 3, at 3 p.m., Rev. Andrew Crowell officiating, with a reception to follow; visitation will be Wednesday, November 2, from 7-9 p.m., all in Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow St., Truro.
