Bertha Scott 1920-2016
It is with sadness that we must announce the passing of Bertha Annie Scott
, age 95, of Port Elgin, NB. Bertha passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, January 24, 2016 with her family at her bedside.
Born in Midgic, NB, she was a a daughter of the late Russell and Alice (Cook) George.
She worked for many years at the Post Office. A very active volunteer in the community of Port Elgin, she was essential in the development of Westford Nursing Home where she continued to volunteer and often would be found playing the piano. She was active in the St. James Presbyterian Church, a prominent member of the Eastern Star, and many other local organizations.
She will be dearly missed by her children Russell (Josephine), Nappan, NS, Norman (Vicki Copp), Amherst, NS; Norma Copp, Red Deer, AB and Gary (Darla), Port Elgin, NB; 13 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild; several nieces and nephews
She was predeceased by her husband Thomas in 1976, her son Tommy; brother Art and sister Marie Goodwin.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Jones Funeral Home, (506-538-2241). Cremation has taken place. A celebration of life for Bertha Scott will be held on Saturday, January 30 in the basement of the Baie Verte Hall from 1 pm until 4 pm. Burial will take place in the Four Corners Cemetery, Sackville in the spring.
Bertha's family wishes to express a heartfelt thank you to her neighbor Charlene; caregivers Paula and Trish, and the Extra Mural.

Thomas "Tom" Arthur Scott
1941-2008
The death of Thomas "Tom" Scott occurred at the Drew Nursing Home on Friday, February 1, 2008 after a lengthy battle with Parkinsons Plus Disease. Born in Port Elgin, he was the son of Thomas & Bertha Scott.
Tom served in the Canadian Navy as a Master Warrant Officer for 21 years and was a member of the Sackville Branch of the Royal Canadian Legion. Tom loved to go four-wheeling, fishing, hunting, boating, gardening and other outdoor activities. He was also a great lover of animals, especially dogs.
He will be sadly missed by his partner and wife of twenty-seven years, Eleanor (Pauley); his mother Bertha Scott of Port Elgin; three brothers, Russell (Josephine) Scott of Amherst, Norman of Port Elgin, Gary (Darla) of Port Elgin; one sister, Norma Copp of Alberta; three daughters Rhonda (Max) Blackwood of Sussex, Joy (Paul) Power & Michelle Scott all of Halifax; one step-daughter, Dawn (Dale) LeBlanc of Sackville; four grandchildren, Jeremy, Jena, Shelby & Riley; four step-grandchildren, Ashleigh, Jena, Riley & Angela.
Besides his father, Tom was predeceased his brother-in-law, Rodney Copp and step-son Daren Downey.
As per Tom's request, his remains have been cremated under the care and supervision of Jones Funeral Home, Sackville (364-1300), with visitation from the funeral home 2-4 & 7-9pm Saturday, February 2, 2008. A memorial service will be held at the funeral home, Sunday February 3, 2008, 2pm with Alan Sears officiating. Interment will be in the Holy Rosary/St. Vincent Cemetery in the Spring. The Sackville Branch of The Royal Canadian Legion will be holding a service on Saturday at 7:30pm.
Donations in Tom's memory may be made to the Drew Nursing Home.

SCOTT, Richard - Amherst. With much sadness, we announce the death of Richard Scott, age 39, of Halifax, the beloved husband of Gail Wilson-Scott. Born in Sackville, N.B., he was a son of Russell and Josephine (Stack) Scott. Rick was actively involved in the Halifax community, writing for a local newspaper advocating for the poor and disadvantaged. He enjoyed camping with his brothers and friends, living his life to the fullest. He was an inspiration to all who knew him. Rick will be sadly missed for he was dearly loved by his wife, Gail (Wilson), Halifax; parents, Russell and Josephine (Stack) Scott, Nappan; sister, Theresa (Paul) Marinier, Vaughan, Ont.; brothers, Michael (Keri Ann), Meaford, Ont.; Russell-George (Sherry Manzer) and Robert, both of Amherst; maternal grandmother, Alice Stack, Riverview, N.B.; paternal grandmother, Bertha Scott, Port Elgin; aunts and uncle, nieces and nephews.
