John G Jackson
1929-2008
It is with great sadness, that the family of John G. Jackson of Chapman Settlement, announce his sudden passing at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Center on Saturday, Feb., 2, 2008.
Born in Lorneville, he was a son of the late George and Nellie (Feltham) Jackson.John was a "Jack of All Trades", being a carpenter, fisherman, gardener and hunter. A home body, he enjoyed card games and music, his collection of talking toys, his family, his friends and his cats.
John will be sadly missed by his wife of 59 years Jeanette (Ackles); 12 children, Norma Gordon, Brian (Belinda) Jackson, Merry Anne (Bill) Chapman, Teri (Rick) Porter, Betty Jackson, Carol Jackson, Grace (Sid) Archer, Holly (Dan) Rector, Pearl Jackson, Laurie (Garry) Payne, Robbie (Connie) Jackson and Jim (Darlene) Jackson; 17 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild; 3 sisters, Margaret (Eugene) Haynes, Evelyn (Douglas) Haynes and Pearl Gallant. He was predeceased by sisters, Annie, Lillian and Viola and by brothers Alfred and Avery.
The remains are being cremated under the care of the Furlong Jones Funeral Home, Amherst. John's family will receive friends at the Furlong Jones Chapel, 68 Church St., Amherst on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. A memorial service will be held at the Chapel on Tuesday, February 5, 2008 at 2 pm, Rev. Steve Longmoore officiating.

Norma Jean Gordon (January 23, 1950 - September 7, 2012)Gordon (Jackson), Norma Jean - 62, Oxford, passed away Friday, September 7, 2012. Born in Moncton, NB, she was a daughter of Jeanette Jackson and the late John Jackson. Norma is survived by her daughters, Carrie (Rick) Vassallo; Paula (Marcel) Wood; son, Andrew Gordon; beloved companion, Howard Black; sisters, Merry Anne (Bill) Chapman; Teri (Rick) Porter; Betty Jackson; Carol Jackson; Grace (Syd) Archer; Holly (Dan) Rector; Pearl Jackson; Laurie (Garry) Payne; brothers, Brian (Belinda); Rob (Connie); Jim (Darlene); grandchildren, Tyler, Brooke, Chelsea, Robbi Lynn and Lila; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Gary Gordon; father, John Jackson, nephew, Jessie Payne. Norma was a member of several local groups over the years including Oxford Area Lionettes, Pythian Sisters, Oxford Curling Club, and Oxford Fire Dept. Ladies Auxiliary. She loved spending time at her cottage at the beach where she enjoyed collecting sea glass on longwalks. Norma loved caring for all creatures especially her cat Bobbi. She was a devoted fan of Johnny Reid music and attended many of his concerts. Norma also enjoyed attending yard sales, shopping, playing dominos and cards, traveling and dancing. Most importantly Norma enjoyed spending time with family and friends, she was full of laughter and shared her kindness and enthusiasm for life with everyone who knew her. Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. Wednesday, September 12 in MacDiarmid’s Funeral Home, 5075 Main Street, Oxford (447-2930). A service celebrating Norma’s life will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, September 13 in Trinity United Church, Oxford. The family would like to thank the medical and nursing staff at the QEII 5.2 as well as the emergency department and Jennifer Fifield for the loving care provided to Norma and her family. LITTLE RIVER - Jesse Brian James Payne, 26, Little River, passed away Friday, Sept. 19, 2008 in Dartmouth. Born in Pugwash, he was the son of Garry and Laurie (Jackson) Payne of Little River.
Jesse always enjoyed playing hockey, starting first with Oxford Minor Hockey teams and later with teams in Cumberland Minor Hockey. He played on many local elite teams such as the Peewee Macs, the Bordertown Huskies Bantam AAA, and the Cumberland Midget AA team. Jesse was also selected to play on the provincial Nova Scotia Peewee Major AAA Eagles. More recently, Jesse had played hockey with the former Oxford Junior B Blues. Jesse loved the outdoors, whether fishing, four-wheeling or working in forestry industry with Ripley Farms of River Philip. Besides his parents, Jesse is survived by his sister, Allicia (Phil Legere, and his son, Ethan), Dartmouth; girlfriend, Laura Emberley, Dartmouth; grandmothers, Jeanette Jackson and Willena Payne; great-grandmother, Madeline Seaman; uncles, John (Brenda) Payne; Brian (Belinda) Jackson; Robbie (Connie) Jackson; Jimmy (Darlene) Jackson; aunts, Coreen (Malcolm) Tizzard, Patty (Robert) Beaumont; Norma Gordon; Merry Anne (Bill) Chapman; Teri (Rick) Porter; Betty Jackson; Carol Jackson; Grace (Sid) Archer; Holly (Danny) Rector; Pearl (Norm) Jackson; many cousins and friends.
