    GORVEATT, Ralph J. W. - 86, East Cumberland Lodge, Pugwash, formerly of Amherst, passed away February 8, 1999 in the lodge. Born in Tidnish, he was a son of the late John and Della (Trenholm) Gorveatt. He had worked at Robb's Engineering for over 25 years retiring with a perfect work record. He enjoyed old-time fiddle music. Surviving are his wife, the former Katherine H. Morrison, Port Williams; sons, Glane, Halifax; Dale, Port Williams; sisters, Margaret, New Glasgow; Beulah, Whitby, Ont.; brother, Arnold, Tidnish. He was predeceased by son, Glenn; brother, Floyd. No visitation by request. Cremation has taken place. Graveside service in the spring. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to East Cumberland Lodge, Pugwash, or Victoria Manor, Amherst. Arrangements have been entrusted to Furlong's Funeral Home, Amherst.

    ALLEN Beulah Pearl
    (Member of Calvary Baptist Church for 53 years) Passed away peacefully on Saturday January 10, 2004 at Groves Memorial Hospital, Fergus, Ontario, in her 87th year. Daughter of the late Della and John Gorveatt of Tidnish, Nova Scotia. Beloved wife of the late Oscar Allen. Loving mother of Dolores Byrne and her husband James of Arthur, Ontario and Maurice and his wife Moira Allen of Kentville, Nova Scotia. Dear grandmother of Rachel, Adam and Rosemary Byrne. Sister of Arnold and his wife Frances Gorveatt of Amherst, Nova Scotia. Predeceased by her sister, Margaret Bowser and her brothers Floyd and Ralph Gorveatt. Sister-in-law of Barbara Gorveatt of Newfoundland and Kay Gorveatt of Port Williams, Nova Scotia. Relatives and friends may call at McINTOSH-ANDERSON FUNERAL HOME LTD., 152 King St. East, Oshawa (905-433-5558) on Tuesday January 13 from 7-9pm and on Thursday January 15, 2004 from 12 noon until time of service at 1pm. Interment Mount Lawn Memorial Gardens, Whitby, Ontario. Memorial donations in memory of Beulah may be made to The Gideons International in Canada.

    Mr. Arnold Richard Gorveatt
    March 11, 1921 - October 16, 2009

    It is with great sadness we announce the death of Arnold Richard Gorveatt on Friday, October 16, 2009 at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre in Upper Nappan. Born in Lorneville NS, he was a son of the late John and Della (Allen) Gorveatt. Arnold was a building contractor in Ontario and Amherst area. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. He will be lovingly remembered by his daughter, Shirley (Bob) Burgess of Cobourg, ON; son, Rodney (Barbara) of Amherst; granddaughter Terry Legere and grandson Michael Gorveatt; four great grandchildren, Katie, Megan, Aiden and Ashton; as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife the former Frances Briggs; grandson Rodney Jr., granddaughter Kim Gilmour, and his brothers Floyd and Ralph and sisters Beulah and Margaret. A private visitation and funeral service will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Campbell's Funeral Home, Amherst (667-9906) In lieu of flowers, donations in Arnold's memory may be made to the Cumberland Regional Health Care Foundation.
