SOUTHAMPTON, Cumberland County - Mrs. Calvin Siddall, 89, of Southampton died Wednesday in All Saints Hospital, Springhill.Born in Springhill, she was the former Bertha Florence Trowsdale, a daughter of the late Elijah and Hannah Trowsdale.She was a member of the United Church of Canada.Surviving are two sons, Frank and Elmer, both of Southampton; four daughters, Elsie (Mrs. Bert Fisher), Truro; Edna (Mrs. Ralph Trenholm), Southampton; Leota (Mrs. Frank Rogers), Ottawa, and Darlene (Mrs. Garnet Thompson), Mapleton, Cumberland County; two sisters, Effie (Mrs. Charles Bradley), Sidney, and Myrtle (Mrs. Hedley Dow), Cardiff, Ont.; 21 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.Besides her husband, she was predeceased by a daughter Annie, a brother Willard, five sisters, Lila, Vida, Mary Ellen, Mabel and Ethel, and a great grandson.The body is in A. H. Brown's Funeral Home, Springhill, where the funeral will be Friday at 2:30 p.m., Pastor John Pringle officiating, with committal in Springhill receiving vault and burial in Southampton cemetery at a later date.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to any charity.

Frank A. Siddall, 74, Southampton, died Wednesday in Parrsboro Hospital. Born in Southampton, he was a son of the late Calvin and Bertha (Trowsdale)Siddall.
He spent 45 years in the wholesale and retail beef business. He is survived by three daughters, Joyce (Mrs. George Collins) and Elaine (Mrs. Willis Bennett), both of Southampton; Ruth (Mrs. Roger LeBlanc), College Bridge, N.B.; three sons, Murray, Keith and Calvin, all of Southampton; four sisters, Elsie (Mrs. Bert Fisher) and Edna (Mrs. Ralph Trenholm), both of Truro; Odie (Mrs. Frank Rogers), Ottawa; Darlene (Mrs. Garnet Thompson), Mapleton; a brother, Elmer, Southampton; 17 grandchildren; five great grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his wife, the former Elsie Meldrum; a sister, Annie.
The body is in Smith's Funeral Home, Parrsboro. Funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday in Southampton Baptist Church, Rev. Eric Miner officiating. Burial will be in Southampton Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Southampton Baptist Church or the Canadian Cancer Society.

SIDDALL, Elmer Borden "Grampie" - 86, Porter's Lane, Westville, formerly of Southampton, Cumberland Co., died May 24, 2000, in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow. Born in Southampton, he was a son of the late Calvin and Bertha (Trowsdale) Siddall. He served overseas with the North Nova Scotia Highlanders during Second World War. Following the war, he worked for the C.N.R. (Springhill-Parrsboro Line) and retired from Hoegg's Sawmill, Athol. He was an adherent of Christian Fellowship Church, New Glasgow and a member of Royal Canadian Legion Branch 17, Springhill. He enjoyed collecting Antiques. Surviving are his sons, Dave, Foxbrook; Weldon, Richabecto, N.B.; Blaine, St. John, N.B.; sisters, Odie Rogers, Ontario; Edna Trenholm, Southampton; Darlene Thompson, Mapleton; Elsie Fisher, Bible Hill; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by sister, Annie; brother, Frank. Visitation 7-9 p.m. today, 2-4, 7-9 p.m. Friday in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow. Funeral service 11 a.m. Saturday in Christian Fellowship Church, Rev. Bruce Morrison and Rev. Helen Christie officiating. Graveside service 3:30 p.m. in Southampton Cemetery. Elsie was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother whose life revolved around her husband, children and home. She was a lifetime member of St. David's United Church. ROGERS, Leota Ruth (Nee Siddall) Peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday, January 4, 2005 at the age of 79. Beloved wife of 53 years to Frank Lear Rogers. Dear, proud mother of sons Brian Lear (Gillian) of Red Deer, AB and Robert Alan (Ruth) of Ottawa. Cherished grandmother of Emily Carla, Jenna Elizabeth and Tyler Robert. Dear sister to Edna Trenholm (Ralph) and Elsie Fisher (the late Bert) of Truro, NS and Darlene Thomson (the late Garnet) of Mapleton, NS. Predeceased by her parents Calvin and Bertha Florence (Trousdale) Siddall, her brothers Frank and Elmer Borden and sister Annie Campbell of Southampton, NS. Fondly remembered by relatives and friends in Nova Scotia, Montreal and in Ottawa where she has resided for the past 37 years. Leota served in the CWAC during WW II. A private cremation and family graveside service is to take place this spring in Southampton, NS. Edna M Trenholm
1922-2011
The family of Edna Trenholm, age 89, wife of Ralph Trenholm, of Southampton, announce the passing of their wife, mother and grandmother at the Gables Lodge on Friday, March 18, 2011,
Born in Springhill, she was a daughter of the late Calvin and Bertha (Trowsdale) Siddall.
Edna's life centered around her home and her family and she provided well for them with her many talents of baking and homemaking throughout the years. She had a passion for antique furniture and was an avid collector and together with her husband operated a furniture restoration business in Dartmouth.
Edna will be sadly missed by her husband of 64 years, Ralph, Amherst; sons, Douglas and Larry (Nancy), both of Amherst; a daughter, Sharon (Thomas) Gaillard, Dartmouth; 6 grandchildren, Sean, Kevin, Pamela, Jennifer, Jeremy and Madisyn and 3 great grandchildren, Connell, Noah and Nevyn; sister, Darlene Thompson, Mapleton, NS; nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by brothers, Frank and Elmer and by sisters, Elsie, Annie and Leota.
Edna's remains have been entrusted into the care of the A. H. Brown Funeral Service, Springhill (597-2361), from where the funeral service will be held on Monday, March 21, 2011 at 11 am, Rev. Alan Griffin officiating. Family and friends are invited to a time of visitation Sunday at the funeral home from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm.  Donations to the Alzheimer's Society or a charity of the donor's choice gratefully accepted. Â
