    Obituary

Bathurst - Bill McCallum, 69, husband of Dorothy Ann (Hierlihy) passed away suddenly at his cottage in Tabusintac, NB on September 22nd, 2010. Born in Tabusintac NB, he was the son of the late Eubulus and Anna (Price) McCallum.
He is survived by Dorothy Ann, his loving wife of 46 years, his daughter Bonnie Lee Cleroux (Steve) of New Glasgow, NS, his sons Jonathan (Suzanne Richard) of Bathurst, NB, Derek (Krista) of Quispamsis, NB, and his 6 grandchildren, Jordan, Dylan, Christina, Kale, Cassie, and Cohen.
He is also survived by his sisters Josephine MacKnight of New Jersey, NB, Carol Stymiest of Miramichi, NB, Anna Palmer of Riverview, NB and Dorothy "Dot" McCallum of Tabusintac, NB. Several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his brother John.
Bill retired from NB Power in 1998 where he was employed for 36 years. He began his career as a linesman and prior to his retirement was the Regional Operations Manager.
He was past President of the North Shore Luxor Shrine Club and a member of the Masonic Lodge St. John #27 F&AM. The Shriners Hospital for sick children was a cause in which he took great pride in participating.
Bill was an active member of the First United Church. He volunteered in numerous committees and during any Church sponsored dinner he could be found helping out behind the scenes.
Bill was passionate about his family. Dorothy was not only his wife but his best friend. He loved the Tabusintac River where he and Dorothy summered. He loved his garden and took great pleasure in sharing the fruits of his labour with family and friends.
Bill loved Hockey, and for over 19 years he wore many hats within the Bathurst Minor Hockey organization. His favorite involvement by far was being his grandchildren's number one fan. A close second to his grandchildren's hockey career was following the local Titan team.
He touched many lives and all who had the privilege of calling him a friend will feel the void he's left behind. He will be sadly missed.
The body will rest after 2 p.m. Saturday at Elhatton's Funeral Home (www.elhatton.com), Bathurst. Funeral Service will be held on Sunday (September 26, 2010) at 2 p.m. from the First United Church, St. Patrick St., Bathurst. Visiting hours are Saturday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9. Donation in memory of Bill may be made to the Shrinners (North Shore), Heart and Stroke Foundation, Canadian Cancer Society, the First United Church or a favorite charity.
