  Notes	Bona-vol.2,p.686-originally from Scotland,arrived in Acadia via boston in 1657 and settled at Grand Pre. He was one of the co-founders of Grand Pre with Pierre Tterriot.Brother to Charles. -vol.3, p.1262-name is Pierre Melanson, sieur de La Verdure;stonecutter;came from Scotland to acadia via Boston abt 1657. He lived at Saint charles des Mines and was one of its principal founders. J02-p.191-First sailed to Boston with his parents and two brothers, one of whom remained in Boston. His father, Pierre Melanson dit Laverdure was a French protestant who married in exile in England to a woman whose first name was Priscilla. Brought to acadia by Thomas temple in the spring of 1657, Pierre(the father),his wife and youngest son sstayed in boston after the treatyof Breda in 1667. Their other two sons, includeing Pierre and his brother, Charles, married acadians and remained in Acadia. B29-p.9-Pierre Melanson, Sieur de La Verdure, was born in England about 1832 and died after the summer of 1720. He came to Acadia with his brothers and parents(see father's note) in 1657. He and his parents and brothers were Protestants. He later converted when he married a French-Catholic woman. He remained in Acadia and used the surname of Mellanson.
