    Notes
    • In September 1982, Stephen Comeau, son of Pearl LeBlanc and Al Comeau, photographed an old trunk that was sitting in a garage in Joggins. On it was carved the words: Ignatz Heitzler Ottersweier 1854.
In speaking with Jacqueline (Stuckemann) LeBlanc who was born in Germany and speaks German, I was told that the name Ignatz pronounced in German would sound like "Agnes" to an English speaking person. Hence it is believed that when Ignatz arrived in Canada his name was changed to 'Angus' which is similar in pronunciation to the German pronunciation of Ignatz. On Louisa Heitzler's marriage registration, her father's name is Angus Heitzler. - Comment by A.Owen
