      Susan L. Sweetnam 
      (May 14, 1947 - September 11, 2017) 

      Susan Sweetnam, 70, born Doris Louise Sweetnam, May 14, 1947, daughter of the late Mlyrae and Betty Sweetnam,in Swift Current, Sasatchewan, Canada. Susan Moved to Ithaca With her family in 1961 and was a member of the Ithaca High School Class of 1966. Celebrating their 50th reunion September 2016. Susan was thrilled to reconnect with so many old and new friends.
      Susan was always proud of being a member of the Charter Class of Eisenhower College receiving her BA in Social Relations 1972. Always interested in Journalism and Media Susan Continued her Studies at Tompkins Cortland Community College, Harvard Extension, Northeastern University and Cornell University.Susan Worked in Library Public Affairs, Olin Library, Cornell University, Ithaca Times, Ithaca Journal and 30 Plus years for the Christian Science Monitor in Boston, MA. Upon her return to Ithaca She received her Real Estate License and worked for Shaw-Caldwell-Baker Reality USA. She was a member of the First Church of Christ, Scientist in Ithaca and the Mother Church in Boston, MA. where she served in many capacities, usher, First Reader and Board Trustee.
      Susan is survived by brothers: Jim of Ithaca and Dennis (Helen) of Melbourne , Australia, a niece: Romy of Melbourne."we lost our Beautiful sister to her courageous two year battle with cancer. I want to thank Hospice for there love, compassion and tenderness, especially Meg and Cat. Patty and I each held a hand as she slipped into eternity. Susan felt the love thanks to Chet for his Spiritual Guidance".
      A memorial service will be held Saturday September 23, 2017 at 2:00 PM at the home of Lucia and David Tyler 5396 Rice Rd . Trumansburg, NY. All are welcome . In lieu of flowers donations her memory may be made to Hospicare of Tompkins County. Bangs Funeral home will be assisting.
