Judith Elsa (Froempter) Hughes (1942 -2015)
Judith Elsa (Froempter) Hughes, 72, passed away on July 5, 2015, at Providence Medical Center in Anchorage, Alaska.  She was born to Rudolph O. and Ruth (Richardson) Froempter on October 2, 1942 in Boston Massachusetts. Judith moved with her daughter, Noreen and her dog Christian, to Seward, AK in 1968. While in Seward she worked at Seward General Hospital and the Seward Clinic. She was an active participant in the Seward Resurrection Lutheran Church and volunteered with the Seward Ambulance Corp. In 1981 she moved to McGrath, AK. While in McGrath, she was employed by McGrath Light and Power, Joe's Bar/McGrath Roadhouse and retired from Iditarod Area School District in 2001. She volunteered at the McGrath Library. She moved to Anchorage, AK in 2001.  For several years she volunteered as an AARP tax preparer at the Spenard Recreation Center and Anchorage Senior Center. Judith loved to fish, she spent each August in Seward during the Seward Silver Salmon Derby, she also enjoyed camping. She loved to travel and enjoyed Reno, NV. She was an avid reader and an incredible cook. Her family said, "Judith was full of love and life, she had a wicked sense of humor and an unforgettable laugh. She gave sound advice for those that needed it and was an amazing, kind, and strong woman. She will be missed by many." Judith is survived by her husband, David Hughes; children, Noreen Skillman of California, Hilary Flockhart of Colorado, and Conrad Ward of Missouri; and grandchildren, Bryan, Brendon and Elsa Skillman of California.  No services are planned. Her ashes will be scattered along the Kuskokwim River in McGrath, AK, and Resurrection Bay in Seward, AK.  Remembrances may be made in any form so desired by friends.
