Feb. 11, 2003 Hanover Post:Avril Mary Scott was born in Sydney, Nova Scotia in 1908. Â She lived in the Maritimes until 1946, when she and her husband Fred moved to Montreal, becoming residents of Hanover in 1963, Â Mrs. Scott was always an active volunteer in the community. Â While living in Montreal she served as a Sunday School teacher and as a leader in girls' youth groups. Â She was made an honourary life member of the Women's Missionary Society W.D. of the Presbyterian Church in Canada. Â After coming to Hanover she served on the Auxiliary of the Hanover and District Hospital for 40 years and was made a life member. Â Mrs. Scott was the dearly loved wife of Fred Scott and dear mother of two daughters, Dorothy (Robert Stoutjesdyk) of Edmonton and Mary (James Campbell) of Toronto. Â She also leaves five grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Â She is predeceased by her brothers Norman, Sydney and Carl Percy Smith, and her sister Dorothy Burns. Â She also leaves two nephews, Fred Burns of Boston and Scott Smith of Nanaimo, B.C. Â Visitation will be held at the Mighton Funeral Home, Hanover on Wednesday from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm, where funeral service will be held on Thursday at 2 pm. Â Interment in the Hanover Cemetery. Â Memorial donations to the Hanover and District Hospital Auxiliary, St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church or the charity of one's choice would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy in lieu of flowers.
