Obituary
DIZ Doris - Strang Diz, born in 1921 in New Brunswick, NJ, passed away October 29 at the age of 86 at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center. She was raised in Jacksonville, FL and was a member of the US Coast Guard Women's Reserve during WWII (SPARs), where she was a storekeeper and bookkeeper. She held various bookkeeping and accounting positions, retiring in 1986 from the Duval County Board of Education as a data processor. She is survived by her daughter Debra I. Diz and son in law Mark C. Chappell, her son Wayne A. Diz and daughter in law Joanne Edgell Diz and four grandchildren (Holland, Jordan, Austin and Gatlin Diz). She was preceded in death by a brother and a sister, and is survived by siblings Alder R. Strang, Eileen Greenfield and Robert A. Strang, all of Florida, and Grady H. Strang of Tennessee. She was an avid sports fan, especially fond of Florida Gators and Jacksonville Jaguars football, as well as Wake Forest basketball, teams. There will be no formal visitation, but memorials may be made to the Sticht Center at Wake Forest University Baptist Hospital. A memorial service for the family will be held in Jacksonville Beach, FL. The family wishes to express their sincerest appreciation to the Ardmore 10th floor Acute Care facility and the ACE and Palliative Care Units of the Sticht Center at WFUBMC for the kind and loving care shown to Doris.
