Gwyneth Mary Willett 1923 - 2004 ALMA, NB - Gwyneth Mary Willett, 80, of Alma and formerly of RiversideAlbert passed away on Friday, April 23, 2004 at the Dr. Georges L-Dumont Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer, with her loving family by her side. Gwyneth was born in Riverside on December 20, 1923, the daughter of the late James and Ellen (Jones) Wilson. She was a homemaker and worked at the No.5 Depot, Moncton during World War II. She was a very active member of the Wesley United Church, RiversideAlbert where she was an Elder. She also attended and supported the St. Stephen's United Church in Alma after moving. Her church work was very important to her. She was a very special lady who was always willing to help. She was past president and secretary of the Forest Dale Home Auxilary. She was also very active as a Volunteer in the nursing home mending clothes and doing all the alterations needed since the home opened. She was also very helpful in the Home getting their first van and also helped in raising funds for the new van. She was the treasurer for the Albert County Food Bank for the past 10 years. She was past president and secretary of the Home & School Association for many years. She was a member of the United Church Women and also was active in the Albert County Hospital Ladies Auxiliary. Gwyneth was a very active and outgoing member of her community and will be deeply missed. Above all things she was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and sister. She loved her family very much and was always there for them. Gwyneth's passing will definitely leave a hole in her family but they will cherish the life she lived and look at how she was such a great example for them to follow. She will be missed by all but will never be forgotten. She will be deeply missed by her loving husband, Leslie Stevens of Alma; her devoted daughters, Barbara Haire (Rupert) of Riverside-Albert and Brenda Butland (Clark) of Alma; special nephew, Herman Orville Wilson of Ontario; sisters, Dorothy "Betty" Betts of Riverside-Albert, Gwendolyn McLeod of Royal Court, Riverview, formely of RiversideAlbert; her brother, Dr. Frank Wilson (Carol) of Fredericton; five precious grandchildren, John, Bradley, Darrell, Amanda, Brenda-Anne; a great grandson, Anthony; step great grandchildren, Natasha, Shannon and Emily. She will also be sadly missed by Leslie's family, Carl Stevens (Kathy) of Winnipeg, Peggy Clements (Maurice) of Shediac and Crystal Beaumont (Bill) of Edgett's Landing; and also by several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her first husband, Frank Frederick Willett; her son, Frank Richard "Buddy"; brothers, Ronald Robert (Bob) Wilson, Richard "Buddy" Wilson; brothers-in-law, Laurie Betts and Kenneth McLeod. She will be resting at the Albert County Funeral Home on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9pm. The funeral service will be held at the Wesley United Church, Riverside-Albert on Monday, April 26, 2004 at 2pm with Rev. Dr. Douglas MacEachern officiating. Interment will be held in the Hopewell Cemetery, Hopewell Hill, NB. Donations to the Forest Dale Home Auxiliary would be greatly appreciated by the family.
