      John W. Dixson, 89, of Pro Tem Health Services and formerly of Main St., Moncton, with his loving family at his side, passed away peacefully at his residence on Sunday August 28, 2011.  Born in Mountville, he was the son of the late Watson and Georgie (Curry) Dixson.  John was a former employee of Fundy National Park, Alma and for several years he was in business with his brother and sister-in-law, Warren and Muriel Dixson in the operation of Dixson’s Superette, Main St., Moncton.  John was a long time member of Highfield Baptist Church, former Church Deacon, former member of the teller and usher board.  He was a member of the Men’s Brotherhood Sunday School Class and the Young at Heart Senior’s Group.  He enjoyed fishing, gardening, socializing with his friends and spending precious time with his family.
      John will be sadly missed by his loving wife of over 67 years, Marie (Tingley); precious daughter, Carol Fisher, RN (Raymond) of Tulsa, OK; cherished grandchildren, Terry Fisher (Julie) of Tulsa, OK, Tammy Sanders (Dr. Jason) of Boston, Mass and great grandchildren, Natalie and Joshua Fisher, William and Luke Sanders; brother, Herbert of Moncton; sisters, Martha Mosher and Laura MacLaughlin, both of Riverview and several nieces and nephews.  In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by an infant son and daughter; brothers, George and Warren; sister, Marion.
      Visitation at Ferguson Knowles Funeral Home, 1657 Mountain Road, Moncton (858-1995), Wednesday from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm. Funeral Service at Highfield Baptist Church, St. George and Highfield St., Thursday September 1, 2011, 1:30 pm, with Rev. Troy Dennis officiating.  Reception in the church hall following the service.  Interment, Hopewell Hill Cemetery, NB.
      In John’s memory, donations to Highfield Baptist Church or memorial of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.  Online condolences at
