The first redistributed land titles granted to Acadians, after the DIspersion, in the Cocagne region, date from 21 Oct 1772. The lot granted to Joseph Gueguen, at Havre de Cocagne, was number 1 and was situated north of the property owned by Thomas Allen, lieutenant in the British Marines. The lot contained 450 acres of high land and 22 acres of marsh in Bouctouche Bay. In a composition published by Father Leger, interesting details were found on the important role that Joseph Gueguen played at the beginning of Cocagne's history.
