Obituary
Funeral services for Miles D. Ruple, 84, of Saybrook Township, will be 1 p.m. Friday at McMahon-Coyne-Vitantonio Funeral Home, 38001 Euclid Ave., Willoughby.
Mr. Ruple died Monday, Dec. 15, 2008, at Austinburg Rehabilitation and Nursing Facility in Austinburg.
Born Dec. 15, 1924, in Cleveland, he had lived in Lake County before moving to Ashtabula County 41 years ago.
He was a highly decorated U.S. Army Air Corps veteran, serving during World War II as a member of the 449th Bomber Squad stationed in Grottlogia, Italy. He was a homebody and always loved working and being at home. He also enjoyed spectator sports and was particularly fond of the opera.
Mr. Ruple was in the salvage business for more than 40 years and had previously been the co-owner/operator of Ruple Bus Service of Eastlake.
He was the beloved husband of Nona F. (nee Benedict) Ruple; loving father of Milene S. (Gary) Horst of Eastlake, Miles David Ruple of Morongo Valley, Calif., RayeAnn (Steven) Lothian of Pearcy, Ark., Linda Scott of Yucaipa, Calif., Ron (Diane) Urch of Conneaut, Richard (Julie) Urch of Geneva, Anthony (April) Urch of Jefferson, John (Kelly) Urch of Geneva, Lyle Ruple of Geneva and Mila Plats of Conneaut; grandfather of 35; great-grandfather of 17; brother of Lowell (Jean) Ruple of Waite Hill; and uncle of many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Doane S. and Edna S. (nee Tingley) Ruple; and sister, Althea Murphy Hendry.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. The Rev. Robert A. Gaston will officiate the service. Burial will be private.
