      PURDY, Marjorie Esther - 69, Montrose, passed away in Colchester Regional Hospital on August 26, 2008. Born in Portapique Mountain on September 8, 1938, she was a daughter of the late Urias and Sadie (Patterson) Rushton. She is survived by her daughters, Pam Purdy (Randy Conrad), Port Williams; Glenda (Brian) Singer, Lloydminster Alta.; sisters, Ruth Rushton and Lois Green, both of Great Village; Leona Brown, Truro; brother, Malcolm (Fern) Rushton, Truro; half-sister, Audrey McGee, Oromocto, N.B.; sister-in-law, Shirley Rushton, Wolfville; grandsons, Charles MacIntosh, Grande Prairie, Alta.; Danny MacIntosh, Tatamagouche; granddaughters, Heather and Nicole Mazur, Port Williams; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded by her husband, Ernest; daughter, Sheila MacIntosh; brothers, Milton, Clifford, and Carl; sister, Rhoda; half-sister, Gerry; half-brothers, Herb and Ken. Marj worked at several jobs over her life time but the career she loved most was as a home care worker for the County. Upon her retirement she continued doing home care privately for members of the community. Besides spending time with her family, Marj enjoyed reading, knitting, jigsaw puzzles and playing crib. A very special thank you to Dr. Henderson and the palliative care nurses of Colchester Regional Hospital. There will be no visitation by request. The funeral service will be held in Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow St., Truro, at 11 a.m. Saturday, September 13, Rev. Larry Harrison officiating. A reception will follow the service. Following the reception, interment will take place in Fox Harbour Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Palliative Care or a charity of your choice.
