Obituary
The passing of Bernetta Blanche Jewett, wife of the late Horace Jewett, occurred on Wednesday, July 9, 2008 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born on January 13, 1920 in Upper Blackville, NB, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Lena Arbeau. She was a member of the Keswick Ridge United Church; Keswick Ridge Women’s Institute and the Provincial Conservative Party. Bernetta, along with her late husband, were the owner operators of Jewett’s U Pick, one of the first apple U Picks in NB. She enjoyed making quilts, sewing, gardening and was an avid bowler. She is survived by her daughters, Joyce Bird of Burtt’s Corner, NB, Elizabeth Edwards (Philip) of Calgary, AB and Sandra Penny (Bruce) of Rothesay, NB; sons, Bev Jewett (Nancy) of Keswick Ridge, NB and John Jewett (Cindy) of Fredericton, NB; 13 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; sister, Marguerite Munn of Fredericton, NB; brothers, Perley Arbeau (Maisie) of Blissfield, NB, Hubert Arbeau (Doris) of Fredericton, NB, Marvin Arbeau (Marion) of Grand Bay- Westfield, NB and Lewis Arbeau (Gail) of Upper Blackville, NB and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and husband, Bernetta was predeceased by her sisters, Doreen Gilmore and infant sister, Mae; brothers, Miller and Phillip; son-in-law, Willis Bird. Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton, NB on Friday, July 11, 2008 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A Funeral Service will take place at York Funeral Home’s T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel on Saturday, July 12, 2008 at 2 pm with Rev. Ralph Irving officiating and Rev. Dr. Amos Adeniyi assisting.
