Obituary
DONALDSON, JOHN - It is with great sadness that the family of John Calvin Donaldson of Saint John, announce his passing at the Saint John Regional Hospital on January 1, 2009. Born 1934 to the late John and Muriel (Fillmore) Donaldson. John will be greatly missed by his wife Doris (Daigle); sons, Ben (June) and Paul (Deborah); daughter, Debra (Donald), Kim (Kevin) and Donnamarie (Mark) all of Saint John; ten brothers and sisters Helen, Robert, Ronald, Vera, William, Jean, Margret, Barbara, James and Lorraine; 12 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and many friends. John was a master upholsterer whose work graced Government House in Fredericton and Kings Landing as well as many homes in Saint John and surrounding region. He was a member of the RCL #76 and a volunteer firefighter in Norton also a member of RCL #2 and Jervis Bay Legion. He was a Cub Master in the Scouting movement. He was an avid sportsman; playing hockey and baseball in his earlier years and coaching in later years. John raced stockcars, bowled and was a Maritime and Provincial dart champion. He loved to hunt, fish, garden or anything that took him outdoors. He was especially proud of his tomatoes. Arrangements are under the direction of the Fundy Funeral Home 230 Westmorland Rd (646-2424). At John's request there will be no visitation. A celebration of life will be held on at the Fundy Funeral Home Chapel on Sunday, January 4th, 2009 at 2:00 pm. Private family interment to take place at a later date.
